Default Mira Custom 2010 (DTC U0121 Lost communication with Anti-lock brake system)

I have a Mira Custom. Lately it has been behaving strangely. The initial problem occurred a few weeks back. When I came home from work, my wife told me the car steering became hard all of a sudden. When I checked the vehicle, the CEL was on, the ABS light was on, the Brake light was on and D transmission light was blinking and the power steering would not work. But the EPS light did not come on. I began the diagnosis by checking fuses, disconnecting and reconnecting the EPS wire harness removing and reconnecting battery terminal. After this the CEL was gone, but ABS light and brake light stayed on, D also continued to blink. After turning off and starting the car a few times, power steering came back to life and ABS, brake light turned off and D light stopped blinking. I took the car for a test drive everything was working fine.

About two weeks later, I started the car and the same problem re-appeared. Power steering would not work, CEL, ABS, brake light was on, and D was blinking. As I was driving the car, power steering started working and ABS and brake light turned off and D stopped blinking but the CEL was still on.

Yesterday I connected the car to an OBD scantool and the code that came up was DTC U0121 (Lost communication with Anti-lock brake system). I cleared the code and drove the car around for a bit, the CEL did not come back on and everything was working normally.

The fault is triggered by the EPS, but the DTC points to the ABS. I'm not sure where to start looking for the fault. Looking for some ideas.

Yes my problem was solved. It had nothing to do with the transmission however. The problem was in the ABS wiring. Once that was fixed, everything became normal.
