    Lightbulb Daihatsu Mira e:S Knowledgebase/Wiki

I've painstakingly compiled all of this information, and I'd like to share it with you, but please don't copy information without giving due credit, or a link to this thread. Thank you.

Ever since I've purchased my Mira e : S (2012, DBA-LA300S-GBPF, ~30,000km on clock), I've been scouring the internet and calling Daihatsu Service Centers in Japan for information that would help me understand my car better.

I translated the Quick Start Guide from Japanese, and since I haven't been able to find a manual for the car through both official channels and the internet, I thought I'd compile a knowledgebase that I could refer to for information on my car, when I need it ? helping the community out in the process.

Feel free to contribute any information you find, or share your experience regarding the cars, to help make someone else's life easier. I'll update this thread accordingly.
I'll link facts that end up here to the author of the post highlighting that information.

    ## --- ECO-IDLE MECHANISM INFORMATION --- ##

    [in progress]
UPDATE 2016-10-06: I've just found out a potential reason for my eco-idle not working. There's a very specific battery type made for "idling stop" cars that is required by my Mira. My Hankook isn't going to cut it. More testing required.

Nothing. Just tag name is different. Mira holds tag of Daihatsu and Pleo come with Subaru tag.
Both are manufactured by Daihatsu. Even Toyota Pixis is Manufactured by Daihatsu

I've just added some new information about the transmission fluid and tires. Have a look.

The tires that come with the car are usually the Yokohama BluEarth A34s, in 155/65 R14. Deviation from the Mira's 'sensitive' spec isn't recommended, so I'd go for something with the exact same dimensions.

I personally use Toyo NanoEnergy 3s in the same size.

@integrale the eco idle uses a lithium ion battery. I doubt you will find something like that here and if you will, it will be very expensive. The hankook battery you used might be a sealed lead acid battery.

Are you sure about that? I couldn't find any mention of an aux battery in the manual, nor could a find a corresponding relay or fuse that would suggest a battery other than the SLI battery under the hood.

I frankly don't think such a battery exists. Because the Mira has a smaller alternator than a regular car of this size, and some of the 'charging' duties are offloaded to the regenerative braking system, I don't see why you would have two times the batteries (one Li-Ion and one 12v SLI) to charge rather than just one battery to keep 'topped-up', so to speak.

Also, the existence of M42/B19L form factor batteries specifically made by companies like Panasonic and GS Yuasa for vehicles with start-stop systems suggests that these batteries are solely responsible for start-stop cycle duties. And this is what the Daihatsu stock battery packaging looks like:

    Daihatsu Mira eS KnowledgebaseWiki -1718717

The Hankook battery is a maintenance-free battery, although I'm not sure whether it's an SLA or AGM (unlikely) type.
