Mehran was very popular when it first came out in Pakistan, but now it has become a necessity, for atleast the people who have means to afford. Looking at other options in Public Transportation in Pakistan, Buses(Very poorly maintained and very few and far between for Pakistani population), Local city Trains (non-existant), Local city Cabs (unfordable for daily usage).
So Mehran was PAINFULLY the only option for a family man. Motorbike can not be categorized as a decent transportation for an average family in Pakistan which can exceed 6 people or 7 people per family easily.
Anyway, that was PAST.
Now we have choices.
Adam Revo is a very good choice. Hopefully, Adam Motors succeeds.
Also Chery QQ, although I was not a big fan of, but now I support it, since ultimately, it will be the Pakistan / China Cooperation, in automobile field, that can give us OUR OWN, All Pakistani Car. China has always come to give Pakistan a hope in times of dire needs. Look at Motorbike Industry. Those Jap/Pak, assemblers, all 4 of them, Suzuki Motorbikes, Honda Atlas, Yamaha, and One more, can't recall, were Looting and Robbing Pakistanis, with Rs. 80K+ Bikes until the arrival of China / Pakistan made bikes. Now there are 40+ Bike Makers, Assemblers and Motorbike prices have come as low as Rs. 25K to 30K, all due to good competition.
So, hopefully, same can be done with Pak/China collaboration in Automobile field and entrance of many China assemblers and makers in Pakistan, who will make those cars in Pakistan. Japanese so far have looted and robbed Pakistani public mercilessly, first with their Motorbikes and always with their overpriced cars.
Adam Motors and Chery QQ can work hand in hand to solve this total dominance and Automobile oligopoly by Jap. assemblers.
I hope this Chery QQ incident mentioned above is just an isolated case, and due to misuse. As a failure of Chery QQ will also have a bad name for Adam Revo as that car too has Chinese Heart in it at the moment atleast. Hopefully that would change soon and Revo also has Pakistani Engine in it, by 2007, as mentioned by Adam Motors.
A good competition from anywhere is always good for a healthy competitive environment. It gives customers more choices.
