Many (young) people are dying on the roads while pursuing their needs for speed. Public roads and even motorways are not the place to quench this thirst. The only safe places to drive cars at the limits are purpose-built racing venues such circuits, drag strips, and test tracks. Events at these venues are usually run professionally and with very high standards of safety. In fact participating in most professionally conducted racing events is actually safer than driving on the streets.
This problem is not unique to Pakistan. I know so many families lose their loved ones in horrible road accidents in UAE, Bahrain, and esp Saudi.
Motorsport has time and again proved that it makes for safer drivers. Saudi Arabia is a country that had long banned motorsport because it was wrongly percieved to encourage fast / dangerous driving. The country has now officially removed the ban on motorsport activities. We conducted the first official rally in KSA few months back and are now assisting creation of many new race facilities, clubs, and events being planned here.
I used to run motorsport activity in Pk many years back, and can proudly claim that people who used to race in my Club are really good & safe drivers.
Racing improves the breed.
