Noticing that in the Front wheel drive 2C engine powered Corolla has E-Fans instead of belt driven fans, I decided to try out myself and installed an E-Fan on my RWD Tamaraw in the Philippines or known as Kijang in Indonesia, Qualis in India and Pakistan, Zace in Taiwan.
Here is the original belt driven fan.
Here it is on a mock st-up as I measure the distances for the brackets that I will be making.
I noticed that I have very very little space for error... lol
Flat Brackets ready.
There is a huge space on the left side of tha radiator that was left open and no cooling. Now it makes me think of a a 2-Fan set-up
The wiring.
Temporarily I have wired the E-fan parallel to my ignition switch via relay, the E-fan runs as soon as I switch my ignition on.
The actual system requires a thermo switch that senses the coolant temperature and the thermo switch triggers a relay to run the fan on and off depending on the temperature. The thermo switch I got is for a Corolla 2E engine with temp values: Off at 85deg and On at 92deg.
The Benefits.
First difference I noticed was the engine ran a lot more quiet, no more tornado wind like sound.
Second the engine revs climb faster.
and lastly, yes it accelerates faster and reaches 4000rpm with ease.
I will be observing if my fuel consumption will be lower.
Happy DIY!
