    Exclamation Beware of Rubber Walas

    Aoa,

On last Sunday me and my father went to Saddar ( Kashmir Road, rwp ) to get New tires for our car. When we parked our car beside the shop, two Rubber walas came and one asked my Father about replacing Windshield Wiper rubbers. My father refused, and then the two persons began to work on their Plan B.

One of the man started convincing my Father about windshield wipers, by saying something like "Ye to sirf 25 main ho jay ga. Main abhi badl daita hun. Bus abhi ho jay ga. Aap dekhain". They started to lift our car wipers without any hesitation, and I don't think that they gave any time to my Father to take a decision. However, as they were being so willing, my father agreed. My father asked me to to stay out of this and to go to the Tire wala about the Tires.

Later on, as one of them was doing Wipers, I felt that the person was cheating us, he did not kept himself to the Windshield wiper's blades but also replace the Wiper components as well. I don't think it was necessary.

Now for the worst part, as one man was busy with the Wipers the other man Opened our Car's door and started fitting rubbers and saying something like "Ye dekhain ye khrab hai, ye abhi main aap logon ko laga deta hun". When the person with the Wipers finished, he joined him.

Both persons were running around the car, opening doors, bonnet and the trunk. They managed to open doors and then bonnet because me and my Father did not locked the car. They opened the Trunk because of their luck, as the Tire walas had opened the Trunk for taking the Spare tire.

Meanwhile, both men were saying things like "Ye badlnay wala hai", "Ye mainay laga dia hai", "Ye main abhi laga deta hun". Both were using words as if they were really favoring us, but it was evident that they simply didn't care.

Me and my father started asking the two men to Stop. But Both men didn't stopped till my father shouted at them with warnings about No Payment. My father asked them Individually about payment. The people asked high prices and started saying things like "Ye bhi lagaya hai", " Wo bhi lagaya hai". My father didn't fought and paid them.

I don't know the price exactly, but I think it was like 8000 something.

    -----------------------------

I also don't know much about these Rubber stuff, but do know that they don't worth that much that a Person must get them replaced asap.

The problem was that both me and my father don't have enough Social skills to deal with such people. Such social skills require tactics and force.

Most of people seem to have enough skills to deal with such crooks, but some comparatively Naive people are the main Target for their traps.

    ---------------------------

Always keep your Car locked and warn such people about No Payment. But don't let them Touch your car without your True will. This Trend must be Discouraged.

Edit: Some people Highlighted that I mentioned that the Rubber walas charged Rs 8000. Actually my Father did the Payment, I don't know the amount but I had 8000 in my Mind so I mentioned it. Sorry if it caused misconception, I don't know much about prices.

I usually raise my voice and make it harsh to get rid of them. Aisay logon ke sath kisi tameez tehzeeb ki zaroorat nahi. And these people are one of the reasons that I have stopped shopping for car parts and accessories from Pindi and buy them at expensive rates from Islamabad.

    u gotta b kidding me
well same happened wid me too in G9, they placed rubbers for driver's door n said look its so much better, i told them i dont have that much so dont bother putting more rubbers, but they did it for both doors n then opened the bonnet n that as well, i stopped them from doing the rear doors, n at the end they said pay up 600rs lol
i said that i told u i dont have the money so u can take ur rubbers back haha but he had already used elfy so he couldnt remove them, well i really didnt had any money so just gave him 200rs after which he said okay pay me when u come next time lol
even still i think i wasted my 200rs, they get those rubbers very cheap n were just charging a high price of some 30rs per rubber

Same happened with me but only the wiper blades. I had Honda Civic 2005 model, I was at a stereo system shop, one man approaches me and said that the wiper blades needs replacement, i will do it for Rs. 150, for such a little amount you don't take too long in decision making, so he did. After 10-15 days later, i went to my workshop where i take my cars for check ups, the painter there saw the wind screen of my car and said that it is dirty, i will clean it for you. I said okay, while cleaning he asked me did you changed your wipers, i said yes then i told him the whole incident plus a fact that it is MADE IN JAPAN, then he asked to go at the spares shop and get the good quality one, the one which were best available at that time was fro about Rs. 1100 (Made in Thailand) closest to the originals and they worked for me for about a year.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Yes, these guys should be discouraged from fiddling with car parts without permission.

Worse part of the above deal is --- most of the time they will replace a good quality rubber (which is in perfect condition), with an inferior quality part, which will need replacement, in any case, in the near future.

So you end up paying twice by losing the original parts first and then getting replacement parts later.

    Take care!

When I go to that part of town I take my old Kia that has plenty of dents and scrapes. When they come to me and point to the car saying, "Ye wiper .... wo rubber .... darwazy ke pati....". I just look at them and point to the car and say, "Is ke hallat ko dekho.... kya mujhee is ke koi parwa hai?". That makes them go away at high speed. Works everytime

Shout them some abuses thats the only language they can hear. I remember a similar incident and without even asking they installed muffler cover rubber matt for trunk.... side molding type thingy.... in about 3 min as I got off to see tires in the shop.
I refused them politely and then told my driver to get rid of them. They immediately removed stuff and went but one guy literally stood there and begged that plz buy it as he has cut rubber matt according to my cars size.... eventually I had to pay him for that.

This is a sort of exertion. Another similar way is when you park your car some where unattended and its dirty... you come back and some guy has washed it clean and out of courtesy you have to give him 100

Keep a "Danda" in your car because it helps you a lot in any such situation. I've tried this tact several times and trust me, IT WORKS

What you do- tell them straight up no. Just give them 10-20 rupees to get the **** out of your face.

Those window washers at red light junctions- I press the horn , if they don't move, I start squirting water or just reverse if I can.

What I hate about motorway rest areas- I go for a ****, someone has already cleaned my windshield and I have to pay him. Sometimes I do not have spare change and that is awkward. So, when traveling to Islamabad, I stop 3 times. I do not need to get my windshield washed three or more times for God sake.

    Puh. Rant over hehe.

These techniques can work for sure, but main thing is Confidence.

Abusing is not what civilized people do. They are irritating but there are other ways to handle the matter.
