    Default UBL Debit Card Fraud

    Aoa guys,

    As the topic says, few months back i got robbed via electronic card. I possess a UBL account and own a debit card (Mega Wallet). My card information was leaked from somewhere and somebody made a duplicate/fake card. That person used that card for shopping at known merchants like McDonald's, TOTAL, Raja Sahib, Hush Puppies. At that time i had approx. Rs. 35,000 in my account and he got it all within few minutes time. The next day i was at a restaurant and gave my card for the payment and it got declined. I called UBL customer services center, the representative told me that your account balance is almost zero and you have shopped at several merchants yesterday. It was a shock to me as i didn't receive any SMS of the transactions. I logged the complaint at UBL customer services center via email on August 25th, 2014. Next day i went to the shops where my card was used, to investigate what actually happened and to check the signature on receipts, luckily i got the copy of the transaction slips, the most surprising thing was that the cardholder name on the slip wasn't of mine but the card no and the expiry date was same. Initially UBL gave me 45 days time to resolve my issue, after that they gave me another 30 days time. Now its been more than 8 months, my case is still under process and UBL is giving me no positive sign that they will reimburse my amount. This is the UBL's biggest security breach that there information is not secure and anyone with the access can just make a copy of your debit cards. Need your suggestions how can i recover my hard earned money from UBL.

    You need to file a written complaint at the banking mohtasib with the details and proofs.

    Wow OP, that's something sad that has happened to you. It's not easy to convince that you are the innocent in this case, but do what the others have suggested.

    This happened in Norway too, a grocery store chain with the name " Lime " did that enough times! They would swipe your card through one POS machine and deliberately, an " error " used to come up. They then used the original machine for the payment, tricking the customer to believe it was just a fault with the first machine. In reality, they collected your data and Pin code, and would be making duplicate cards afterwards...and well, empty your account.

    Banks in Pakistan can be tricky, but stand firm on your case and do not give up. It's people like you who will slowly make life easier for all of us!

    UBL has all cards insured against such frauds? Plus you did not get any transaction SMS is strange and goes to your favour. I also have UBL credit card since 2005 and use it frequently. SCB also sends an SMS and email about every transaction on my ATM and credit card.

    Dear Xohaib, sad to hear your loss. Boss this is c clear case of card SKIMMING fraud type which has been common since 2004-05 in Pakistan and mainly started from FSD region where credit cards data was skimmed locally and fake card were used outside Pakistan and then later as the fraud became common, skimmers started used skimmed cards locally. common Possible points where card data is stolen is mainly (ATM machines, POS installed at mobile shops mostly, internet transactions, petrol pumps). if you have acquired all the transaction slips and their name doesn't match with the card number then BANK is laible to refund your amount because they have a department who monitors transactions appearing on credit & debit cards and mostly if transactions behavior is different for a user they call the customer and confirm whether he is performing the transactions or not. If not they immediately block the card and save from further loss. Gather all ur data, write a formal application, put all necessary details of complaint numbers registered by UBL against ur case, provide copies of slips acquired from merchants and go physically to the main office of UBL and not any branch where all operation departments are located.

    the name dealing fraud cases for UBL is ANTI FRAUD UNIT........and I would say that they should be punished because they don't handle ppl like us properly. prepare a proper write up and send ur complaint to the addresses and I hope this will surely resolve ur mtters instantlyMuhammad Ali ?     Brother, i am not taking about the signature, that's a secondary thing. If you look carefully the POS slip you'll find your name on it. In my case the name is different.

    chances are that no UBL person was involved in fraud, and that your card data was copied when you presented it for a POS transaction.
    best to use credit card only in pakistan. it is safer.

    The complaint has been finally resolved. I got my money back from UBL. I logged the complaint at State Bank of Pakistan, and within few days time the money is back in my account. Thanks to State Bank of Pakistan!!!

    Better use cash directly drawn from nearby atm before purchasing stuff... or get secondary account for shopping purpose and keep so less amount in this account that after your purchase there is so less left in account and before next purchase etc.... transfer some money from your main account to that account ......Voilla ... you are safe from such frauds

    fraud logon ka free me kharcha ho jayga card ki copy banany me .......I have secondary card for this purpose

    congratulations.
    here in saudia I am also using debit card. but here good thing is we need to provide password at every transaction. without password transaction cannot complete.
