Default A good way of finding your stolen.

Well I was going through these posts and couldn't find what I am about to share.

Our 2011 gli got stolen from our house (super town near dha lahore) in mid 2013 but all owing to my dad's use of brain we got it back in about a month. What happened was that it got stolen in the time the guards change shift this time is usually just 20-25 mins but this short time was enough for the robbers. They got into the house changed the number plates silently cut the wiring for the alarm system as well as breaking through the gate lock just within 25 minutes.

So now comes the main part of how we really got it back. My dad, although a great driver is getting old and sometimes he gets into minor accidents so what he did is that when he takes the car to the workshop once a year for external as well as internal, he doesn't get all of it fixed. Like a small scratch on the right side mirror and VERY VERY minor dent on the bonet.

This helped us alot as you know they change the number plates. We did not have a tracker back then (ALHUMDULILLAH now we do) but we did have insurance and most friends and relatives told us to use it but my father said that it was the last resort. The main problem was not finding it but it was getting it from the the police they demanded about 40000 but we had to get the car so we just gave them 30k and got the car with 4 flats, the front speaker had a bullet hole and there were 2 or 3 more on the doors.

Hope this helps fellow members and respected seniors. May ALLAH provide us all protection in the future.

P.S be gentle and correct me if I did anything wrong because I am a not so old member of PW Forums.

I think not every time the stolen cars landed in the hands of Police. And by your story, it seems that the car was involved in some kind of robbery or other criminal activity from where police got hold of it. Do they gave you some kind of clearance before handing you the car ? ? ? ? ? Otherwise, you and your family can be in a trouble because when agencies investigate they don't took anything into consideration while the investigation.

Note: Do you have any kind of FIR for the missing period ???
