Default Fuel Consumption- FJ70 3F Engine

What should the fuel consumption of the petrol 4.0 inline 6 cylinder be? Its definitely a beast! I don't know yet as I have not been through a full tank yet as my 4x4 was just bought a few days ago. I can shed a little smoke from the rear tires when shifting into 2nd gear from first, that's fun, especially on a slight turn!

Also, what is the full tank capacity for this 4x4?

    Thanks,

    Rao.

DeeDee: I will post pics, buddy, just hang in there a little longer.

    Cheers.

well I do not know which model is this but all the land cruisers (6 cylender ones) from 2000 onwards are quite efficient on fuel, ours are giving around 6 in city and 8-9 on long route but above 100kmph the fuel efficiency again starts dropping, best is that you drive it at 90 kmph in 5th gear and it will give you around 8-9 kmph. Waisay ager bachat kernee thee to yeh beast kiun khareed lia? go for a hilux or prado which can give u around 11-12 on long route

I drive below fully overhauled 4.2 6 cylinders. Fuel consumptions is "don't ask me dude" thing. That's where folks with FJ70/FJ74 with 13B and 13BT Diesel are much better then us.

@ Zac, I think you have mentioned consumption of the diesel engines in your reply. And if its petrol engines you were talking about, than must be driving with a real light right foot!

@raohamid, Personally I think around town driving expect between 4-5kmpl, out of town could be 5-7. This is gentle-average driving. By the way, manual may be be better only slightly compared to auto! From the top of my head the tank capacity is 90litres for both 3door and 5door models.

    All, thanks.
I am not at all unhappy, its just that I needed to know in advance to avoid blood pressure I am experiencing about 4-5 Km/l in city driving, and considering my other daily driver is a civic reborn manual, i rev a lot for a low range gear box, so all things look normal.

Ok. Now to the petrol pump.

hmm.. if a cherokee's 4.0 inline 6 cylinder should be able to do about 4-5 kilometers per liter with a heavy, i mean quite a heavy foot, why shouldn't your engine do more than that? Americans aren't exactly known for their economical engines, are they?

I recently bought the lighter version of 70 series with 2.4 litre petrol engine. It gives me abot 5km/litre in the city. Have not taken it for a longer drive to know the milage there. In comparison to mine yours is doing pretty well considering its a 4.0 litre engine. Or is mine doing less than it should?

Diesel engines comparatively consume less fuel due to their technology. A 2.4 diesel averages around 8km/l in city unless one get 3 signals in every one kilometers. Anyways CNG option is always there for petrol engines. Two cylinders under the rear seats. :-)
