Islamabad Jeep Club (IJC) is a well established group of diverse individuals around the areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Along with our passion for 4x4 entertainment, the group is equally enthusiastic about lending a helping hand to our brothers and sisters who have become homeless, helpless and hungry. Agony & pain with our displaced brothers from SWAT, Dir and other affected areas puts an obligation on our shoulders to step forward and extend our hands to the needy.
IJC has planned to provide support to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). For this noble cause, we have already generated a pool for the contribution that has initially been replenished by IJC members. We invite all our friends, Pakwheelers and persons from all walks of life to step ahead for the donations. We assure you that each penny would be spent through best possible means for this noble cause. We also welcome services of professionals like doctors who are willing to serve. May Allah be with us.

    UPDATE 22 May 2009 1200hrs

22 day old baby boy who was forced out of the incubator

    Ehsan Kiani :

I have never been more saddened in my life. I feel like bursting out in tears but I can't. I just visited a school to see a 22 day old baby boy who was forced out of the incubator, only a few days old then, because of the taliban issue in Mingora. he is suffering from, in all probability, VSD (what is generally called 'hole in the heart') along with failure to thrive (extreme weakness with very little or no weight gain since birth and poor feeding). IJC has taken over all the expenses that will come for her treatment in AFIC rawalpindi. He is here in pindi. Will update on the diagnoses and details as soon as I get it.

    Shabab :

This is the IJC group email, which i am making it public without the concent of the author, not to show people what we are doing, but to show every one that things are very serious with swat effecties, and people do need our help, every penny, every little thing counts after all they are our Pakistani brothers & sisters. I hope Doc you dont mind me making your email public, its all for a good cause. I appeal to all the people to come forward and help our fellow country man/woman in what ever way you can.

    UPDATE 15 May 2009 0200hrs

    What is required now...

04 - Morale.. We need to talk to them and play with there children. Tell them they are not alone. They have hosted us several times when we were young in the beautiful valley of Swat that is their home. Now its our time to make them feel comfortable.. Make them feel at home.. The trauma that they have gone through and are still going through is phenomenal .
05 - Volunteers to help. In administration, distribution, medical camps etc..

    UPDATE 14 May 2009 1800hrs

By the grace of God we will be crossing over 2 lac rupees as on tonight since tuesday this week-
Dear All - As informed earlier that one of our fellows has already left for Hathian with 3 shehzores full of relief goods. The details will soon be uploaded on this forum. We shall also have the current requirement of items by tonight as the man returns from Hathian. It would also be uploaded.
One thing we intend to make clear is that we do not accept used clothing, used bedding etc. We have had observed during the 2005 earthquake that most of the used clothing, bedding etc was eventually trashed and did no use. We trust that you better understand our point .

    AOA
As u all people know about the current situation abt the IDPs and the affected people of swat.
The people of swat before the operation were mostly middle and lower class, not many poor peoples, coz of the richness of their land and tourism industry. but after the operation they are not as so..
when the curfew is their and peoples are evacuating ,they didnt have a chance to bring their belongings and their precious thing ,even many people didnot lock their homes.
As most of the Affected peoples are now in camps, most of them are getting food ,shelter other things .Becouse the government ,NGOs ,Forign countries are focusing more on camp peoples.
But the other people which are well off before the operation are totally neglected.

TODAY ,I have visited such a place GARDAN TOWN on the ADIYAL JAIL road , where in , around10 -14 houses ,500 affected people are living, One family per room in some houses, these people are totally neglected and need help from all of us...Basically they need .

1 Food- wheat , rice, meat, vegetables ,milk [for babies], kitchen items and other household items
    2 Mostly they need money,to pay their house rent,utility bills,and buy medicines.etc

If u ppl want to help them ,address is simple GARDAN TOWN on the ADIYAL JAIL road RAWALPINDI,

CAll "RAIZ" mobile no [0333-9481213],[who is basically a IDP but well off ,living their ,and he is basiclly helping other IDP's in that area ,and knows who is most deserving].or
U can call me -Umar [ 0333-5618506] ,if u need any further help and collaboration..

Please see below draft update on Project Hathian on the IDP Forum.
Yes, I know its been a long time coming but hopefully you will enjoy
the photos at the end. Please let me know if any updates/ amendments
    are in order.
    Best Regards,
    Suhaib Kiani

    Project Update
With the grace of God Almighty, we have been making progress on our
various activities aimed at assisting the IDPs in Hathian. Our current
assessment of the overall IDP situation in the area is that while some
relief goods are being provided to IDPs, they are clearly not
adequate. Project Hathian has maintained a continous presence in
Hathian, at the Hathian Higher Secondary School and at the Old Hathian
Mandi next to the school which is being used as our distribution
centre. Project teams have been regularly visiting Hathian and
surrounding areas and coordinating with local residents, IDPs and some
NGOs operating in the area. We been supplying local IDPs with food and
household packs, running a free langar/kitchen at the Hathian Mandi
and assisting IDPs residing in various schools in the area through
    various activities.

    Progress since May 22
    1. Distribution of over 1,000 family food packets to Hathian house
based IDPs from funds raised by PH
    2. Provision of household items to 140 resident families of the
    Hathian Secondary High School
    3. Coordination with representatives of Dewan Petroleum and Rotary
Club in distribution of over 250 family food packs to house based IDPs
    in Hathian and remote locations
    4. Organisation of various activities for the students of Hathian
School (medical camp, magic show, sports equipment, stationery items
    etc)
    5. Handing over of Hathian School Langar to international NGO
following successful operation for over two weeks

    Ongoing Activities
    1. Running Free Langar/Kitchen at the hathian Mandi.
    2. Distribution of food packs strictly on need basis focusing on
    remote locations outside Hathian
    3. Coordination with other organizations/individuals in identifying
and responding to critical needs of IDPs
    4. Preparation and planning for the next phase of assisting IDPs in
    returning to their homes

    Special Thanks
We would also like to specially thank the following individuals and
organization for their support to Project Hathian:
    - Islamabad Jeep Club for their wholehearted assistance and
    participation in all project activities.
    - Dewan Petroleum Ltd. for their tremendous effort of distributing
3,000 family food packs (“the DPL Bucket”) to IDPs across the Mardan
    region
    - Rotary Club and particularly Mr. Zahid Sheikh for their efforts in
assisting the residents of Ghamghol Killay
    - The Scouts of Hathian Higher Secondary School for their support in
various Project activities in and around the Hathian School
    - The entire Project team based in Hathian, who are toiling day and
night and fighting on several fronts to help the IDPs.

    AOA people.
Apologies for being out of touch.. Project Hathian continues as I write this. I just got confirmation from a friend for Rs. 30,000.
Right now, we are managing a Lungar for 4000-4500 IDPs on a bi-daily basis. Unfortunately, Al Furqan Foundation, who had taken over part of the responsibilities regarding helping the IDPs, packed up and left a couple of weeks ago.
Our people on the spot are working tirelessly in this heat, managing all activities. I must say that they are the real heroes and deserve a BIG round of applause.
People our average daily expenditure is around Rs. 40,000 plus and we are looking for support from the offroad community as well as others around us.
Lets not forget that, although quite a few weeks have passed, the IDPs are still there and still in need of help.
We have decided to step up the campaign for Project Hathian. Hope you would join in as well.
    Thank you
    Ehsan
