    Default Supercharger for Suzuki Jimny

    Hello Friends,

    I own a 2007 model, 85 HP, 1328 cc, DOHC, Suzuki Jimny that i use for 4x4 rallies in Pakistan. Now I want to install a bolt on supercharger regarding which I have consulted many mechanics in Lahore and Islamabad, however, none could provide me any information about the availability of a bolt on supercharger for my above Jimny. If any friend here could provideinformation about the concerned supercharger, or if not that, a bolt on turbo, i will be extremly thankful

    A super or turbo charger are basically airpumps n they aid engines to breath more air to make more power.

    Both have their advantages n disadvantages.

    for road racing they a defenitly very beneficial.
    But,,What i have heard from friends who participate in offroad rallies, that, a good suspension having longer shocks travel is more help ful then adding raw power to the vehicle.

    n after that,a roots type supercharger as it provides boost low down the rpms n is the best replacement for displacement.

    jimmy has a high compression ration engine: 10.5:1...turbo charging it or supercharging it would destroy your engine. I wanted to conver my liana which has the same engine..this can be done but no one at lahore ot islamabad can do so...so take my advise refrain...

    @sarab

    Bro go to any gaskit maker n ask him make u a thicker gaskit. ur problem of high compression would be resolved.

    detonation is the cause of engine failure not the high compression itself. since boost raises the compression one could run a lil less boost with a lil more compression.

    The ultimate goal is to raise the engine power, one way or the other.

    @Saidhi
    I think u r looking for some good numbers in lower rpm range.

    I have done few jobs of this kind in my past n I m interested in doing that job for you. If u feel so u can contact me on 0345-4253740.

    Thank you Salman_m5, Saarab14 and Blueanwar, all three of you seem to know the dynemics of the engine very well.

    The discussion about the high compression of Jimny's DOHC engine was what we pondered upon during our meetings at PMRC and ORAD. Like Saraab, one of my friends Rshid Abdullah, who has had the experiance of preparing normal road cars for street racing, also advised that I should refrain from installing a charger, yet, the argument of blueanwar about reducing the compression with a thicker gaskit was given by another friend Sardar Hassan. The problem we had was firstly which turbo or supercharger to install and secondly who is knowledgeable enough to do the job.

    Thanks to Salman and Blueanwar, I think my second problem is solved and I am sure you guys are capable enough to tackle the first issue as well.

    The current scenario is that during the Freedom Rally 09, the mounts for the front extra shocks broke, one in the first round and the second just at the finish line. Also, about 7 kilometers from the finish line, while going through dunes at about 90, i had a series of 3 jumps right one after the other. After the 3 jump, i landed hard on my right front tyre, following which not only the tyre was flat but there was also a weired sound of tuk tuk coming from my front tube. I did not stop and completed the Rally on three wheels, luckily, I came 3rd in my category.

    Tyre was of course changed but the tuk tuk remained. The tube was not bent, because it was re-enforced, so my conclusion is that i had probably damaged the axle. Anyhow, for these and other routine mechanical work, my Jimny, photo of which is attaced, is at a workshop. As soon as I get the vehicle back, Inshallah will contact all three of you friends and then we can discuss in more depth how to DO IT. Salman, i can see that you are in Islamabad, is there any chance that you visit Lahore so that all of us could meet for Aftaar.

    The next rally is going to be on 18th of October in Lahore, thereafter a rally in Mitthi, Sindh on 8th of November, followed by the Rally of Jhal Magsi in the 3rd week of Dec. Naturally, I will try to contact you friends at the earlest, hopefully not later than 9th or 10th of September.

    Once again, thankyou very much firends, you are the saviours.

    ^^ It's a good thing you accept it. BTW I think you shud swap the engine or maybe use a wider vehicle cuz its center of gravity is a little too high and while turning u cud face some troubles. Get something like an old pajero or prado etc. Will be cheaper than this..

    Dear there are 4 different categories for vehicles with different CC/power, Pajeros, Parados, Surfs are not out of reach, but they fall in categories where they they dont stand a chance because of rally prepared Vigos and Tritons. Jimny's have a match with Jimnys and i drive the same vehicle that the winner of my category drove. So i plan to stick with a Jimny

    Greddy makes a supercharger kit for the m16 engine in the suzuki swift sport. I think it uses a Rotrex supercharger.

    Maybe you could use it on the m13.

    Cheers
