Default Pajero or Prado--which one is better(Experts Plzz)

For a change my fellow pakwheelers... lets get out of corolla civic wars and put our views to finalise which of these (Prado or Pajero) is the best!!! As nowadays many are opting 4x4 SUVs ....

Why from 1986-1992 Pajero was the hot favorite and now the Prado... I guess both are arch rivals if given chance to
tested against each other... which one do you pick???
keep all the factors in view -- the off roading capabilities... economy... luxury and accessories... price and maintainence and all round performance..

Here are some videos to make a view of both...

In fact.. to make this more interesting.. how about figures from Australia and Africa.. which have adverse terrain and climate.. temperature extremes... etc..

Also, one must consider what International agencies like UN, WHO, RedCross Red Crescent etc, who have choice of any SUV in the world... what do they prefer?

why are pajero fans going on defensive? I didnt say if more corollas are sold they are better than bentleys.. but now that you have said it.. how about bentley sales to maybach sales? one DOES get a rough idea.. but in no way definitive.

I was just curious thats all..
It's a bit of a trick question, since the LC encompasses various versions, while the Pajero is only one vehicle. Digging around, I've found a few interesting data on the sales / production figures of the LC vs. Pajero:

    Toyota sold 4 million LCs in total between 1954 and 2003. This includes all series of LCs from the 20 to the 120 (20, 40, 55, 60, 70, 80, ,90, 100, 120)

Mitsubishi on the other hand sold 2.34 million Pajeros over 4 generations from 1982 to 2003.

So proportionally per year, Mitsubishi have sold more Pajeros than Toyota have sold LCs.

    they prefers lc and prados
prado is the best selling suv of australia
why prados are common in pk
why prados are more common in uae or middle east?
WHy dont pajeros are inplace of prado where pajero is also cheaper than prado. If pajero is better then why its less in sales man.

a prado or the land cuiser of course... Pajero somewhat has now become an impotent road surfing iron box filled with entertainment show offs which has nothing to do with realtime -anytime and anyday off roading ... dont bring in the dakar rally-- thats a stageg 4x4 event with modified vehicles.. evos are not what we drive in coomon...

Pajero has made good sales due to its value for money.. those who cant buy or are thrifty about their own 4x4 taste.. they opt for the prado... but if money is not the issue--people would go for the proado in the first place..

    middle east
Easily the most anticipated new model in the region, the new-for-2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is the epitome of middle-class Arabia. All sorts of hard-working family-men dream of this washing machine -- not the ugly Audi R8, nor the unreliable Range Rover, but the Toyota Prado.

prado has an multi terrain system with 8 cameras, crawl features ever heard of air suspension its optional on prado,4.7 v6 vvti, bigger looks than pajero, more spacious than pajero and air suspension make its ride comfortable than pajero

But most owners would be interested in ride comfort instead, and the Prado does not disappoint. With the optional air suspension, it rides over bumps like a hovercraft, without the recoil bounce that will likely affect non-air lower models.

It really shows that you know next to nothing about off roading. Having driven both, I preferred the Pajero. But that could be because the Prado didn't have diff locks. The Pajero was more comfortable hands down. For serious off roading, I would prefer neither as their overhangs and bumpers are huge! Before passing a totally biased statement like the one you have, you should understand that when you say a Pajero is only good on the road, you lose credibility. If anyone wanted what was the best on the road, your Prado wouldn't even be in the top 200. They would all be cars, and you would seldom see a soft roader in there.

No it doesn't, it has shift on the fly 4WD so that you don't eat up tires and fuel when you're running on road in 4WD.

You're right. Personally, I prefer manual hub locks, I prefer manual gears over automatics, I prefer the really old diesels for their water proofing, I prefer no bumpers, no traction control, no LSD, Mud Terrains, uncomfortable and smoky rides when I go off road.

All I want from a soft roader is to drive around in the city, and go on some gravel, some light mud, keep high when the roads are a little flooded, and make me feel safer when there is the need. Anyone who wants offroading potential from a soft roader is not very intelligent to begin with.

That being said, to each his own, but silly comments about how one vehicle has all time 4x4 etc makes me blow my fuse. Now that my fuse is blown and I get any more personal, I shall bow out, for at least a couple of days...

And I would love to see your Prados and Pajeros out perform even a 1942 Willys while offroading. Prados and Pajeros are soft roaders stock. Period!
