Default Mahindra Scorpio wins 3rd in Brazillian rally.

    Salaam wale kum.

This is my first post here just found out about this forum. I just saw this and would like to get comments from my countrymen as to why we cannot do this. We are no less than the Indians. Pakistani companies should take this up as a challenge. Mahindra Scorpio wins a Brazilian rally and will beat the Chinease to the US auto relaease. I would like to have a discussion in this forum. Here are the links.

What is most heartening about this result was that it wasn't a planned event or even a factory effort but the initiative of long time Brazilian motoring enthusiast Ricardo Augusto de Souza Campos, better known in the South American motor sport fraternity simply as Rasc.

Rasc wanted to do something different with his 16-year old son RASC Campos, better known himself as Rasquinho, and so he purchased a Mahindra pick-up from Govesa Mahindra, the firm's dealer in Brasilia. A veteran of over 25 years of motor sport in Brazil, he has seen action not just in circuit racing (where we was Brazilian champion in the Speed 1600 series) but since 1990 had turned his hand to rallies, taking part in the tough Brazilian events in all forms of machinery, latterly trucks. Rasc founded the Jeep Club of Brasilia (his home town) and so it was not lost on him that Mahindra vehicles have descended from this great brand. The Rally dos Sertoes was the one event where success had eluded him in conventional vehicles and so this year he decided to attempt the unthinkable with a vehicle which was largely simple yet unproven in competition.

good to see that but believe me its a man behind the machine 90%. we are mostly into restoring and competing business not launching a brand but a brand user ofcourse

and i wonder if this manidra could participate in any of our competition "cholistan rally" or "freedom rally".

These cars that win rallies and other events like these are not stock. Basically, you could have the body of the car, and all entire components can be aftermarket. Hence, this is no judge of a car's performance under a specific makes tag. The Pajero has won 7-8 consecutive Dakar rallies, still you will find people all over Pakistan who claim there was never a more unreliable vehicle made. Why?

If only Mr Ghulam Mohammadhad had started Mohammed & Mohammad right here in our great country instead of becoming a finance minister and today it was a Mohammad winning the Brazilian rally.......with Green and White colour combination can you imagine that DeeDee Miya.

Aur Raohamid miya I agree with what you say in a lot of cases the ralley vehicals are not even close to stock but in this case I believe it was not modified too much as its mentioned here.

"It was a result which stumped everyone in the event but then Rasc and Rasquinho were counting on the rugged build of the Mahindra to counter the firepower of the competition from Japan and the U.S. The vehicle was prepared almost entirely to stock standard specifications apart from the mandatory safety and structural modifications demanded by the regulations. An FIA safety roll-cage was fitted as were special rally seats. There was a snorkel air intake, a sump and transmission guard, a plastic windshield, electrical safety gear plus also a full complement of navigation and rally aids along with radio and GPS systems. The chassis was strengthened at key points as demanded by the regulations and the only change from the standard spec was the fitment of rally shock absorbers which the T2 regs permitted. There was also a larger 220-litre fuel tank mounted in the load bed and overall the turnout of the vehicle was resplendent in its red and white livery."

If the Indians can do it we CAN ALSO do it.

Maybe you are unfamiliar with the rally scene in Pakistan.....Nadir Magsi, Mohammad Ashraf, Asad Khoro, Ronnie Patel are the best and am sure are second to none in their skills when compared to international rally drivers. Poor response from the government and the corporate sector has resulted in NIL representation abroad......all these rallies cost a decent dime and without sponsors one can't even crawl upto the starting line!!!!

Mitsu Miya of-course we have good drivers but my question was not why no Paki rally drivers why NO Paki Vehicles!!? I mean some people claim Mehran is a Pakistani car but we all know its not. Our first car Sitara is a JOKE. I mean look @ this....

m well aware of these drivers...and i agree with u that their skills r really professional and next to the international rally drivers...

infact i m a fan of nadir magsi..and i was more than happy when this year in cholistan he was to drive his LC for the rally but due to some circumstances he drove hi auto vigo...and was shocked to see him winning the rally..when ronni patel was drivin the pajero evolution...
