    Default 4x4 Rebuild, Engine Advice

I've a 1991 Daihatsu Rocky with a 2L T (2.4 litre) toyota engine in it. I'm planning to replace the old engine and I've two options

Either go with a newer 2L engine or a 1 KZ engine. Engine price is not really a concern however anyone with the current prices of these engines should mention those.

What my concern is reliability and more importantly fuel consumption of the engine.

So any input will be appreciated.

    Thanks
