Default Kia Sportage emitting black smoke

    Dear All,

For the last few months, my 2002 sportage has been emitting black smoke initially when the vehicle is started and then whenever the car is accelerated, or gears are changed (the black smoke is not continuous). Also, the fuel consumption has increased and i now get an average of about 6.5 per litre. Someone told me that it may be due to a problem in the diesel injector pump. Can anyone shed some light into this and suggest a good place in Karachi to have it repaired/inspected?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Faraz

On my round trip to Lahore via motorway i added half a liter of PSO 2 Stroke oil each time to a tank full. Pick improved and the sound was reduced considerably....

observed an improvement in the econmy by 1.5 - 2 km / ltr. well i am not sure this (mileage improvment) is attributed to the pump/nozzle service purely or this coupled with addition of oil made the impact.

Anyways enjoying a much better ride now....planning to the run the next tank full without adding oil...will see and keep you ppl posted.... <!-- / message --><!-- edit note -->
