    Default Me & my jeeps (For brother Saidhi & others)

    Dear all, In another topic for the sale of RKR, i was asked by Mr Saidhi to define my two jeeps especially the upgrading of my cruiser. So, i would take it as an opportunity to also share my limited experience about jeeps and also to introduce my self.

    By profession, i am an army officer who was born in a military family, means have been knowing jeeps since i was too young. I am located at Islamabad and am basically from Peshawar. I am 34.

    For the last 18 years i have been keeping different brands including villys 45, range rover 84, 3Xdoor pajero 92, 5Xdoor pajero 92, double cabin 90, 3Xdoor land cruiser 87, about 7 suzuki jeeps (experienced SJ410, SJ 413, 660cc, 1000cc, long wheel base, 2C engine, 1300cc non EFI and EFI as well).

    I sold my last BJ 60 on 13th of august. This jeep was 84 model on which an additional amount of around 3.5 lacs was spent for its up gradation.

    After that i purchased three jeeps in the last month, two out of which have been sold and finally i started working on the 60 series.

    The first one out of those three was an 88 model SJ 410, the body of this one was swapped by a 94 model jimny, 1300 EFI, automatic, 11:43 diffs, had no works to be done.

    The second one was an original 94 model SJ 413, long wheel base, 1300cc, 5 Fwd manual gear, with removable company fitted fiber top, 11:43 high speed diffs, imported from UK in 2006, the registration no was also 413, had no works to be done. This jeep was excellent for off the road moves as the wheel base was long so was very comfortable as compared to the smaller one. I have heard that last year the cholistan desert rally was won by a LWB.

    And now i have an 89 model, UN auctioned, BJ 60, 5 Fwd gear, new 3B engine, rotary pump, islamabad registered jeep which is totally disassembled at the moment. When i was selling my LWB, i gave an add for this one as well on one of the forums of pak wheels, but the other one was sold so i decided to keep it. It was in total original condition but i opened each and every part. Working on it for the last one and half month and will surely complete it in 30 to 40 days. You can see the pics of it in the topic of its selling.

    Works already done are

    Front suspension changed, all four wheel bearings, disc plates, brake shoes, leaf springs changed, dash board removed, cooling boxes removed, cleaned and re fixed, carpet/ seats and roof cloth removed, denting done and painting in progress, tyres and rims have been changed yesterday.

    Works planned to be done

    Engine will be replaced by 13BT, rear stapni be placed as of a surf, mechanical wench is already there and all the items being removed will be re fixed in a clean way. And may be other hidden things also come in the way which will be corrected.

    If any further information is required i shall be happy to share the little of the little that i have.

    Regards

    Noman

    Noman Sir, are you having the paint stripped off by blade or by paint remover ? I would suggest the remover as it leaves little work for finishing the surface later on. But then you are almost done with it.

    It was done by remover. You'll like the color quality.

    Norman Sb. Nice work there done. I was calling you for this vehicle to buy but somehow did not made the progress anymore, looking for another same around Lahore. Anyway I see you have done a lot during last few days. Will you still sell or keep it at the end? and if you finish what will the price? Last time you have mentioned something around 5 lack when finaly done.....is that still your actual? Thanks.

    No dear, at that time i had two jeeps and a couple of weeks back i sold one. I am going to peshawar to buy a 13BT for it on sunday and it may end up somewhere around 6 lacs, so have decided to keep it. It would be a 5 door jeep, 89 model, UN auctioned, islamabad no (97 registered), mint body, mint frame, with 13BT and a CRUISER. What else can i dream of in 6 lacs.

    Today i reached peshawar at 10am and left at 8pm. The prices of diesel engines without gear were as follows

    12HT=2,30,000

    14B=2,20,000

    13BT=1,80,000

    11B=1,00,000

    1KZ=90,000

    3B old model=70,000

    3B new model=1,20,000

    I was looking for 13BT and you'll be surprised that in the complete market of peshawar and pindi there is no engine available of good condition. There was one piece for 1,80,000 but it was not in a good condition. The other options were either 12HT or 1KZ but both are very uneconomical on fuel, otherwise both were fitting in with the same 5 fwd gear of my existing new model 3B. At the end i had to take the decision of buying the new model 3B as there was one engine available, 2004 model, in mint condition so i purchased it in 1,20,000, with two compressors ( i believe one is for the AC and second one is for the refrigerator), oil fan, and with all other engine items.

    It will reach isb tomorrow and than will fix it this week.

    Go for a 1KZ. I did not have information about the swapping of 1KZ prior to my visit and got confused but today after consulting few friends, they convinced me that 1KZ could have been a good choice.

    Nice going sir.
    I believe 1KZ would have saved u some money as well.On the other hand,Prices of engines have gone up considerably due to restrictions on thorkham border.Also i'm seeing that the project price has just gone up due to engine.
    Qaiser Pal,I have not failed.But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound,people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them,confuse them

    Noman, Brother I don’t have much information on engines but have had a Surf and a Prado with 1KZ, can only tell that its a powerful and high speed engine, fuel average within Lahore was 6-7 and out of town was 9-10, however I am not sure whether 1KZ, which has come with mid sized SUV's, is enough to power the large mass of BJ60.

    One of my friends Mujahid Zafar, picture of his BJ is attached has a 4000 cc Diesel engine in his vehicle, as you can see it has the tires of H1 Hummer. I have had couple of opportunities of traveling with him to north and can tell with absolute surety that this BJ was a blast in every difficult off road condition. He was to be caught with a little bit of rally style driving otherwise I, on my Defender would not be able to follow.

    Don’t know which engine the BJ of my friend has, but on refueling stops, his vehicle had almost the same quantity of fuel that TLC’s with 1HD or 1HDT had.

    In case you need any further information on engine or body setup of Mujahid Sb’s BJ, his number is 0300-845-5563

    Thanks for the information. I in fact had already talked to Mr Mujahid a couple of week's back I had a very long discussion with him on his jeep. He was very informative. As far as offroading with a BJ is concerned, i have good experience of that, but i wanted to know the drive of a 12HT as his jeep has this engine. Pls see the pics of my BJ which i unfortunately sold a couple of months back.

    This jeep had a 3B in very good condition and was very powerful in low gears. The only bad thing about this engine is that it's a loader engine which is non turbo and on high speed (like 120) is gets slow even with slight rise on road level.

    I REALLY DESERVE A SPECIAL JEEP.

    Believe me guys, i just reached home from the workshop. It was the engine fixed today. Started at 6pm and finished at 2.45 in the morning. I tried to be part of each nut and bolt fixing so that there can be no flaws left in the work.

    See how clean the engine area became after thorough cleaning.
