    Default Me & my jeeps (For brother Saidhi & others)

    Dear all, In another topic for the sale of RKR, i was asked by Mr Saidhi to define my two jeeps especially the upgrading of my cruiser. So, i would take it as an opportunity to also share my limited experience about jeeps and also to introduce my self.

    By profession, i am an army officer who was born in a military family, means have been knowing jeeps since i was too young. I am located at Islamabad and am basically from Peshawar. I am 34.

    For the last 18 years i have been keeping different brands including villys 45, range rover 84, 3Xdoor pajero 92, 5Xdoor pajero 92, double cabin 90, 3Xdoor land cruiser 87, about 7 suzuki jeeps (experienced SJ410, SJ 413, 660cc, 1000cc, long wheel base, 2C engine, 1300cc non EFI and EFI as well).

    I sold my last BJ 60 on 13th of august. This jeep was 84 model on which an additional amount of around 3.5 lacs was spent for its up gradation.

    After that i purchased three jeeps in the last month, two out of which have been sold and finally i started working on the 60 series.

    The first one out of those three was an 88 model SJ 410, the body of this one was swapped by a 94 model jimny, 1300 EFI, automatic, 11:43 diffs, had no works to be done.

    The second one was an original 94 model SJ 413, long wheel base, 1300cc, 5 Fwd manual gear, with removable company fitted fiber top, 11:43 high speed diffs, imported from UK in 2006, the registration no was also 413, had no works to be done. This jeep was excellent for off the road moves as the wheel base was long so was very comfortable as compared to the smaller one. I have heard that last year the cholistan desert rally was won by a LWB.

    And now i have an 89 model, UN auctioned, BJ 60, 5 Fwd gear, new 3B engine, rotary pump, islamabad registered jeep which is totally disassembled at the moment. When i was selling my LWB, i gave an add for this one as well on one of the forums of pak wheels, but the other one was sold so i decided to keep it. It was in total original condition but i opened each and every part. Working on it for the last one and half month and will surely complete it in 30 to 40 days. You can see the pics of it in the topic of its selling.

    Works already done are

    Front suspension changed, all four wheel bearings, disc plates, brake shoes, leaf springs changed, dash board removed, cooling boxes removed, cleaned and re fixed, carpet/ seats and roof cloth removed, denting done and painting in progress, tyres and rims have been changed yesterday.

    Works planned to be done

    Engine will be replaced by 13BT, rear stapni be placed as of a surf, mechanical wench is already there and all the items being removed will be re fixed in a clean way. And may be other hidden things also come in the way which will be corrected.

    If any further information is required i shall be happy to share the little of the little that i have.

    Regards

    Noman

    It was very useful in hunting. U travel on motorway in winters at midnight in freezing temperature, and in the fields, remove its top, hunt and re fix it. So would make the job simple.
    Suzuki LWB was a real gem , i was intrested in it , and talked to the owner on phone , but before i could make up my mind u were fortunate to pick it . it sure is a thing to be missed now , but considering your love of off roading , i know u will be always getting good jeeps .

    It's not easily available in the market especially in original condition. 2 or 250 will be a good price if u get a clean one.

    Need advice on potohar sj410 enigne.
    want to swap in 2c engine and make it active 4x4.

    Which transmission will be the best. keeping in mind fuel economy and performance.
    As i have heard for different mechanics

    1) 2c mating it with hilux gear
    2) 2c mating it with 1c's 4x4 gear
    3) 2c which is rear wheel version and maiting it with original potohar gear.

    Which option will be the best?

    Vehicle will be used as a daily runner + highway usage + off roading and hunting keeping in mind economy. previously have experience of 2c in potohar but it was FWD it used to give 18km/l in city.

    Further more how many versions of 2c engine are the market ? since it is quite an old engine and still comes in zero meter corolla. secondly can i expect its ac performance as good as a 2006 model corolla.

    what about 2l engine will it fit ?
    RIP

    You can't fit a 2L in a suzuki as that is very heavy and will damage the suspension. Secondly it will not fit the engine compartment.

    With a 2C engine you can only fix a hilux gear to make it 4X4. You'll have to center the rear diff also. AC's work very good with 2C's.

    There is no 4X4 gear with a 1C engine. For that also you'll have to use a hilux gear.

    My advice is to stick to stock as the price of 2C engines are very high and only the hilux gears are worth not less than 35,000. Pls check the market and confirm.

    About two months back i got hold of a stock russian UAZ. I enjoyed it's drive and it's capabilities, some little details of which i have already given inthe below thread.

    A 4X4 with maximum of off road capabilities

    As i started to modify it, i had the chance to see another modified UAZ of same model. I was after the owner to sell it off and finally to my good luck he agreed, and so on i gave mine to a friend. The details of my new vehicle are as follows.

    * UAZ 3153
    * 2003 model
    * 3L diesel engine
    * 5 fwd gear
    * right hand drive
    * 5 door
    * removable hood with foldable front mirror
    * original power steering
    * original booster brake with discs in front
    * originaal coil springs in front
    * leaf springs at rear with originally SOA
    * 2 X separate fuel tanks
    * Total length is 12 feet (even less than a suzuki LWB)
    * very comfortable adjustable seats
    * snorkel
