Very interesting; seeing how all wheel drive is implemented in this truck is quite cool.

Porsche uses a very complicated and tricky drive line. They use electronic LSD's on both diffs, the suspension is independent, and the gearbox has a electronic central locking differential with electronic low range drive gears.

They won the Transsyberia Rally last year with all Porsche teams on top.
if you visit their website (USA) you'll see a lot of detail in their technical explanatory videos.

But the Cayenne is not applauded well when it comes to off-roading?! Low-ground clearance and high-maintenance costs?
    Nothing to see here.

True, it has an low clearance height but with independent suspension that's not as big as it is with live axle 4x4's. As for maintenance, yes its expensive but in reality who would want to take there Cayenne off-road? Seriously i won't...
As for professional off-roading, for them (Rally Teams) money is not a object because all comes from the sponsors and private financiers also prize money, you know those Evo's and Subaru's which run for rally's, their tranny's cost around 100k euro's brand new! Crazy Stuff man! hehehe

Your undercarriage will give you a big middle finger if you have that attitude in a Cayenne

That thing is insane, saw a white Cayenne turbo accelerating down the coming lane, couldn't find it in the rear view mirror.

sat in yaheyas cayenne turbo the day he got it. 4x4s are not supposed to be that fast! LOL! never been offroad in it, i think 4x4 in that car is there for off the line traction and possibly snow (like with evos, skylines etc), but that's about it.
