Default Advice on restoring Toyota FJ40

    Hi Guys,

I am in the process of restoring an army auctioned FJ40. I have rebuilt the original F series petrol engine and 3 speed gear box. Axles, brakes, and clutch have also been rebuilt. Body sheet metal has been preped for paint to my satisfaction. In a week or so it will be painted (Insh'Allah) with Standox 2k "baked paint".

However, wiring, suspension, and final touches and refinement can only be done by a proper "Jeep ka mechanic". I may also need help in converting to power steering as I plan on running extra wide tires (15 inch rims with 10inch width). I plan on lifting the vehicle 3 to 4 inches. Can someone suggest a workshop or mechanic in Lahore that can help me complete the task.

    Experts out there...kindly help.

    Regards,

    Salman Chaudhry (03009422749)

yep pending tasks are: floor rubber/ vinyl covering, rim/tires, door rubber channels, and roll bar. Furthermore, tomorrow FJ40 goes back to workshop for three days for power steering and brake booster fitting.

As for the engine is concerned Raza and my F engine were both done by (AmanaUllah). As per him and his team my engine is silky smooth and running smoother than Raza's engine at this time as Raza's F2 engine is a bit noisier as the rings, pistons, and big end bearing are still tight in the cylinder. After running in they will queit down. I replaced old .75 rings and big ends with the same size new ones, and getting good compression without need of prolonged running in. Carb was given to me by Raza and then I installed a new distributor after which it is running great.

yep, my fj needs a ragra so the engine settles and becomes less noisy.
lets have a good 4x4 event this coming weekend.
