You would be fine even if you went for an older jeep which will be much cheaper than the newer one, you would be best off getting in touch with the local offroad club in Lahore and seek their assistance in identifying a suitable vehicle. There was also a recent thread entitled "Selling my BJ60 Monster" or something like that, the vehicle seems to belong to an enthusiast and in great condition. However with the purchase of an older jeep you must consider that that they're higher maintenance than the road car that you may be accustomed to. Little things go wrong every now and again due to age and you really need to be "in love" to be happy with an older 4X4, having said that once the jeep has reached a certain level of maintenance, reliability is generally not a major issue.
For using this as your family vehicle and primary means of transport, you're better off spending more initially and going for a better maintained vehicle to start off with, particularly since this is your first jeep. For a family vehicle I would recommend a Landcruiser 60 series or if budget permits then go for a good 80 series which is far easier to drive and modern in terms of looks and technology. Also remember, the more complications, the more hassles, the simpler the vehicle the easier it is to own and maintain. While you will always find the exhorbitantly priced opportunistic seller, as a very basic range a good 60 series would be between 7 to 9 lacks and a good early 80 series would be between 12.5 and 14.5 lacks. Also consider that most 80 series in Pakistan would have spent the majority of their lives on tarmac, what ever you go for, take a good mechanic who specialises in working on jeeps to check it out and steer clear of body changes and massive modifications on your starter vehicle. As you build up knowledge and experience you can delve further into these areas. Make sure the papers are clean and have the chasis checked for bends, crunches or tampering.
If money is not an issue, go for a 2000 onwards vehicle which will be far lesser maintenance and you're likely to find something spectacularly clean but you will pay for it. If its too good to be true, it probably isnt, good luck...
