Default Snow Cross 2010 & Extreme Offroad Conference on 6 th & 7 th Feb 2010 in Nathiagali

    Dear Friends

With the grace of Allah Almighty, the Snow Cross 2010 & Extreme Off-road Conference was held at Nathiagali on February, 6-7. The event was organised by the Islamabad Jeep Club and attended by 4x4 Engaged ( Lahore ), Muzaffarabad Jeep Club ( Muzaffarabad ), Pakistan Land Rover Club & Offroaders Unlimited ( Abbotabad ). Over 46 offroaders from the 5 participating clubs attended the event on around 19 vehicles. Following heavy snowfall on Friday and Saturday the attendees had to overcome challenges posed by snow and ice on the steep climb to Greens Hotel Nathiagali, which not only tested their driving and recovery skills but also highlighted the spirit of team work and cooperation amoungst the seasoned offroaders.
The roads leading upto Greens Hotel were covered by upto 2.5 feet of snow and attendees had to drive up the slippery slopes using snow chains, with some road clearing equipment showing up very late in the day.

The Extreme 4x4 conference featured presentations from the Presidents of the 5 attending Clubs as well as a speech from the chief guest, Mr. Nazir Abbassi - Nazim Nathiagali. Participants at the conference highlighted offroading and extreme motorsport as a healthy alternative for the people and youth of Pakistan who are greatly affected by prevailing environment of terrorism which is stifling sports and entertainment activities. Participants also emphasized the need to recognize and promote offroading and extreme motorsport in Pakistan at the official level.
Mr. Nazir Abbassi appreciated the efforts of the attendees to organise and attend such a challenging event and highlighted the need to promote tourist activities in Nathiagali and Galliat areas which are amongst the most scenic hillstations in the coutry with virtually no law and order risks.

    Thanx

An amazing trip with lots of fun and tons of snow. Hats off to the leaders for such great organization and management of such a mega event. I know even a simple trip needs lots of prep work and managment, let alone one that involves close to 50 people with 20 vehicles.
All credit goes to the hard work put in by the volunteers and team captains of all the groups. Special thanks and credit to Amir bhai for his organization and leadership skills with so much energy.

To me the best part was the display of team spirit from the start till the end of the trip. It certainly strengthens the bond between team members when facing difficulties and hardships.

Great coordination and skills displayed by team IJC volunteers in getting the roads cleared by directing traffic at various Jams on our way back. We pushed, pulled, towed lots of stranded 2x4 vehicles wtih women and children to saftey. hats off to all.
It was very nice meeting team Engaged, MJC, Offroaders Unlimited and PLRC members.

Now lets see some pics.. where dey at?

@ Bugzy, it was nice meeting you at Nathiagali. We did think about it as well, (in fact Black-op put one on his spare wheel). My LC has two spare wheels as well, but I don't know how much time it took you, for me I can say it was less than 10minutes for the whole process, i.e putting chains on both wheels. And this is the first time in my life I have put on chains, we (me and Black-op) did ask the shop keeper to show us throughly how to put them on when we bought them the day before. I am sure changing wheels would have taken me lot longer and these wheels are Bloo... heavy as well. So even next time I would probably still do the same.

    Hi guys
It was another unforgettable trip of my life as an IJC. Snow cross country's idea was floated by our senior member IHAQ, back in 2008. we had our first snow cross in 2009 "Snow Cross 2009" and this one was our second snow cross "Snow cross & Extreme Off-road Conference 2010". This time we were joined by 4x4 Engaged Lahore, MJC, Pakistan LandRover club & Offroaders Unlimited Abbotabad. The trip as expected, was full of fun till very end. All the members showed a very good team spirit. Special thanks goes to :-
1:- Aamir Malik, for organizing such a lovely event.
2:- TLCfj40, for arranging the accommodation on such a short notice.
3:- BlackOp, for arranging a very delicious BBQ, really appreciate your gesture for feeding all of us. you were the last one to have dinner even though you were hungry your self.
4:- Pink Panther :- For compilation & editing of IJC presentation. You made all of us look very good on the screen.
5:- Shoaib Kiani & Jehangir :- Great musicians & great sport, sir we all enjoyed your music very much, you truly made our night memorable, great songs & music. Shoaib bahee your Ameer khusro ghazal was the best. enjoyed music till 4 in the morning. guys sorry about making x-rated parodies of your songs
6:- Ali(tombRaider) & nn :- Guys you truly are the life saver, jump starting different jeeps in the cold morning is not an easy job, but you guys did it. Ali you know 4x4 to its core, and always impress me with your immense knowledge about 4x4.
7:- Jehangir & company :- Guys hats off to you all, for clearing the road for the ijc convoy, although it was cold wet and painstaking work. you guys were out on the road getting wet in freezing cold & clearing the way for all of us. The coordination between all of the guys was top notch.
8:- 4x4 Engaged :- Sir Salute to all of you to make it to Nathiagali. Thank you very much for your warm welcome & a bonfire.
9:- Last but not least very respected IHAQ for his idea & suggestions, its sad he could not join us & for all the others member who could not make it, missed your company.

Once again thank you all very much for making this event a success. Long live Pakistan.

    Salam to all!
    @shahbab
Man u have stolen my thoughts and put them in words.

Like always it was a smashing event. The best thing about it was the team work shown by all. A brilliant idea by Ihaq was executed by IJC with fantastic team spirit.
It is always a honor to stand and travel beside men with great character and a kind heart. Did regreat me not taking TLC along wont do the same mistake again.

It was great seeing everyone from 4x4 engaged, MJC, Abbotabad club after a long time.
In brief a great way to start the year....

Amir bhai's efforts are always selfless which makes him stand out of the crowd(well his height too ) you are a true leader.
This conference was a first step in recognition of this sports to a national level. I would suggest that the inter-club meets should be organized atleast every quarter of a year and a number of clubs should take part in hosting the event

It is always a pleasure to meet shabab bhai jahangir spidy SK and all the IJC nutters ..... MJC AJC and Landrover club

Offroading tours not only are for fun but it trains you to work in the team for the team and respect for each other ... these club meets shows you your value to the club ... and especially what we can achieve if we all work together as one unit

May Allah always keep our spirits high

    Warm regards
