Default 1992 Toyota Prado 5 Door

Hey Guys, I am getting a 1992 Prado 2004 Registered 2.4 L Diesel Engine, very good condition for Rs 9 Lacs. Got the vehicles checked from Mechanic and Body Shop, and everything ok. Is this the right price for this vehicle? Will 2.4L Diesel be ok or should I search for 3.0 L Diesel?

Asif, it all depends on what your use is of the vehicle. 9 is a decent enough price. Qaisrani has a 2.4l Prado he would be able to give details. As from my experience of driving a 2.4 (nvr owned one though) as along as its on the tarmac its fine, off it, it seems to be bit short of power.

People new to the 4x4 arena may not even feel that, unless they comparitively drive another powerful vehicle in the same conditions and then switch back immediately to a lessor one.

The 3.0 has a 1KZ in it and I would not suggest that unless you have no issues regarding fuel.

Thanks for your input. Also saw one 1992 Model 2007 Registered, Black Color and very good condition. Seller not going below 13 Lacs. Is it a fair price?

Asif, to engage the 4x4. first you need to press the Hub Lock Button, it should be on the right hand side of the steering wheel. then press the H4 button next to it. Now your ride is in Hi-4WD.
To disengage 4x4, first press the H4 button then the hub lock button.

If you need more power (useful only in extreme offroading conditions) you can engage Low-4WD. you can do this by first locking hubs with the button and then use the small Gear shaft to shift to L4

Your 92 prado should also have a knob on teh left bottom side of Steering which says something like Off-RR. this is a diff lock knob. once you start doing some serious offroading you will need this. i won't confuse you with it at this point.

Not all Prados come with front and rear lockers..

Asif, there were some interesting bj/fj 60 in sunday's Dawn. DId you check them out? I love the size and power of the 60 series but its not something that you can use on a daily basis, also parts and resale maybe an issue.

92-94 Prado range from 8 to 13 lakhs, try to go with 1kz.. nothing like having bit of a power at your disposal.
