    Default A Question for Offroaders?

    Hi all,
    Few days ago, I came to know about All Wheel Drive Japanese corollas like LX Limited (Indus shape), 2.0D model 1995-96(Indus shape), and 2.2D station wagon model 1998-99. Similarly corolla X 2000 to 2004 and Corolla X fielder (state car) are also available in AWD or 4WD.

    My question is that whether they are available in 4x4 in Pakistan or not (although I have seen many of their front wheel drive versions here). OR has someone imported them in recent past years. I want to buy any such car, bcoz I am in a need of it. I was searching for a pajero Jr 1100CC but now I am searching for 4WD Corolla with manual transmission when I heard about its AWD version. If someone has info about their performance for offroading or pics of any central differential or gearbox of such cars, then pliz do post them.

    Your cooperation will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    I remember seeing an AWD/4wd Corolla in 1988-1992 shape buts that was a long time back. I understand that Corolla still have 4wd versions in Japan going all the way back to the 1973/4 models:
    4x4 Corolla - rollaclub.com

    Offroad performance should be pretty decent given that all RWD Corollas ('74 to '82) I've been in were pretty decent rides on hilly tracks. At times, I have found myself wondering if its possible to put on a 4WD transmission on an Indus Corolla as I'm pretty sure that with a hald decent lift you could take it to an IJC event..... and probably make it back too

    Corolla X Fielder AWD & FWD are available here in the market. Not many takers though & few cars.

    You can check for Orion Motors, DHA Phase 1, Karachi in the Auto Pages link above. He has the largest # of station wagons here and I have seen AWDs & 4WDs at his place.

    As for the offroad capability, not much ! as there is the clearance issue. It'll take you from point A-B on a muddy slushy track without the need of a tractor pull, but thats about it. Yet to see it run on sand like a Subaru Impreza AWD

    You can even make it over the Babusar Pass with a decent lift For those who missed Janj's encounter with the Corolla 1.3 that made it across: https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/roa...r-top-4-days-3

    @ameerusman
    there are 'yota full time 4wd or AWD cars in pakistan & i personallay have seen n driven a '88 sedan AWD 1.8 D belonging to one of my relative, it was having superb grip and braking as it was having Disc Brakes in the rear too
    Amazingly some of the 88 corolla sedans also come with Rear Difflock option as i have a Button off a 88 dash board in Shuba that says "PULL DIFF LOCK"

    U can find corolla X too in AWD but have to search for it
    if u want it in budget then u can go for a Alto 660 cc AWD

    But remember these AWD vehicles are for highways & for Snow/ slippery roads where more traction is needed, u can use them for offroading but U have definitely to modify most of its suspension n that too just to a certain limit

    Best of Luck for the Hunt

    Last year i visited northern areas. These 4x4 corollas are very common there. Every 2nd car you'll find there is a 4x4 corolla.

    I loved the shape. Have seen only one of them in Isb.

    Btw all those are NCPs and only driven in those specific areas.

    i have also driven one couple of years back and i would agree with Fishak..its an amazing vehicle..a bit heavy on fuel though. if you intend to offroad then i would suggest you stick to Paj Jr or a substitute, unless you find a decent 4wd rolla and are ready to modify the suspension...but then you will be compromising on the road grip and handling part.

    Bhai Logo ,
    Almost all of the current sedans and mini japanese cars do come in 4x4 mode in japan, Simply because their are lot of hilly areas in japan almost 75% of total land area thats why they make 4x4 version of almost every car ranging from 660 cc Alto to 4300 cc Toyota Crown.

    Thanks to all for nice and valuable infos.
    @fihsak
    I do not need this corolla for offroading. I have only one problem and that is "About 10 meter track near my home is a muddy place, where my 2.0D indus Corolla 2001 sometimes tries very hard to cross that part of muddy track". Although it crosses that track and there is no need of extra pull, but sometimes I feel that I should go for a 4X4. Anyways searching for a Jr as well as 4X4 Corolla.
