    Question Restoration of Lazzaz

After her last glorifying act of winning the night mud rally, Lazzaz died on the way back from Lahore. She was a heart patient and got real excited after winning the rally and hence the heart failure.

Below are the pictures of her after winning the rally.

I was opting for 3C turbo engine but due to the scarcity of diesel engines in the market, 3S will be the new motor.
Engine has been purchased and hopefully, I will be getting Lazzaz back sometime next week. What should be must to do/consider for replacing 2C turbo with 3S????

Has anyone done this swap? Do I need to change the gears? Current setup is Rocky 5 speed gear and differentials.

After the engine, next step will be suspension upgrades to take the abuse in rally conditions. What needs to be done to improve stability at high speeds? Will dual shocks on all four wheels help???

Any kind of valid/invalid wild ideas and suggestions are highly welcomed.Restoration of Lazzaz - 67786

There is not much you can do with a leaf sprung suspension except add better shocks and different types of leaf springs. Plus there is no suspension geometry mechanisms involved in this type of setup, no control arms, no separate linkages, no pan hard rods, no sway bars, just old fashioned 40's leaf sprung suspension.

The more softer the suspension the more sluggish the jeep will be, more roll and higher tendency to roll over at high speeds, but will have better articulation. The harder it is the bouncy it will get, but will maintain high speeds with ease.

I think the suspension depends on the driver and his driving style. One has to identify the drivers style and build on that rather than going for random parts.

This is what happens to a M151 steered sharply at high speeds.

that arm flying around at the end of hte video is quite humourous,... and reminds me of something i saw back when i was a kid going from lok virsa back to school. som eidiot was trying to floor his corolla down islamabad highway and when he saw our school bus he braked hard, swereved and rolled his corolla at least a dozen times.

body parts were ejected from the car...

Well my friend that is exactly the case when you take a jeep for a Ferrari, no pun intended.

Last summer, i was driving on a road on the edge of the Marala-Ravi Canal, there's a section called "Soh wali neher". So i was driving, well not driving rather speeding on my M825, a tractor trolley comes in front of me, i hit the brakes and honk, no answer, so well i hit the right side and head for the overtake, stupid fella just came to the right out of the blue and was almost about to run me over, i steer hard right and suddenly the M825 seems out of control, the next thing i do is steer left, and bam! we end up in ditch (road drain) with the right side of the jeep down 3 feet in the ditch, while my feet stuck in the steering wheel, me dangling down and the guy next to me in the ditch. We were lucky the vehicle didn't rollover and hadn't smashed us into pieces. We walked out of it with a few bruises and cuts, and mostly wild thorns. Another good thing i had the trol with me to tow the M825 out. Reconciling what had happened, we concluded that if it wasn't for the main rails of the jeep stuck on the edge of the ditch and the wheel turned left and holding the jeep onto the edge, we'd be dead.

In my opinion if you're driving a open jeep stick to the 3rd gear and drive easily. I am not trying to hit the hobby hard with drawbacks, rather emphasizing on the fact which is safety. Is life better when you experience a short period of exhilaration, Sure! but is it precious enough than your life. Surely not!. That is the lesson i learned i that day. What would i tell the folks of the guy next to me if he had died and not me?...

Its a great thing going on here, a very niche hobby considered to be dangerous is taking its roots as a formal, responsible and professional community, but we've got to emphasize on and consider safety as much as we love this hobby.

Just my opinion and respectively no disrespect intended to any individual of so anykind

    Chali,

good to know that it will perform better than old motor. Low end torque, might be able to do something by changing the differential ratios.

    Sherwan of atthasi,

These things are part and parcel of driving and can happen to anyone. May Allah save us all. I am sure you have installed seat belts on your Mutt after the incident.

Lazzaz is mostly used in IJC events and I might be taking it to Cholistan just for the sake of participation. Over speeding on roads is not my style anymore. I already have done that with consequences

Again the main question is how to increase the stability at high speed in desert as it is a SWB vehicle.

    Plan of action below.

    1st stage;
    replace engine
    Install Cold air intake
    Change diffs if required.

    2nd stage;
    City Saddar road,
    Replace the rusted floor
    additional fuel tank.
Snorkel with air filter. Don't know if it is a wise thing to do with cold air intake???
    Other body work

    3rd stage
suspension upgrade (two or three shock setup with less leaf springs)
Something to increase the stability (I know its a short wheelbase) Wider tires???
Something something extra to increase the performance

    Final stage
    Proper roll cage for rally
    ESCASTY
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.......
