    Exclamation To buy or not to buy

    I am double minded about buying an out of market 4X4.

    It is a 2000 model Nissan Pathfinder LHD in great condition. 87000 Km on the clock. Parts will be an issue plus zero resale.

    Below is the picture from net. What should be maximum price of the jeep?????

    To buy or not to buy -80120

    nn, they probably made better LCs back in 1998
    But you are definately right. The site never said which TLC but since I was picking the fastest of each brand, I didn't mind the Toyota looking cool for all its fans (was expecting MitsuMan to be the first to object though). Nevertheless, would love to find that 8.6s TLC!

    If I can get my hands on the 3UR-FE the 5.7l V8 (used in Lexus and American LCs as well as in Tundras and Sequias etc). 8.6secs would not be too much of a problem .

    I would love to see what Ehsan's new monster will be capable of, 0-60 timing for that would be interesting. What figures do you forecast / forsee!!!

    I could see that happening as a feasible project. You will probably need both the 5.7 engine and the gearbox to be reliable.

    @suhaib

    Which 1998 Montero are you referring to???6G72 SOHC/DOHC, 6G74 SOHC/DOHC, 6G74 MIVEC, 6G74 GDI???????????????? Specify and only then we can settle on stats amigo!!!

    @parapilot

    The car in focus is probably been part of ORAD.....is a US consulate auction and was in a pretty good nick last time I saw it (it was sold off end last year by the member)!!! You can check out snaps on our site www.orad.org.pk july 2009 tour....am quite positve the 'draining diesel' shot might arouse your interest. You are welcome to revert back for details if it is the same car!

    Mistu,

    How much was that sold for? I think the one I am talking about is different as when I saw it in February, it was pending number plate, can't remember if it was P series.

    I am told, it is UAE embassy auctioned. Will check it once back in Islamabad Inshallah on Sunday.

    I think around 8.....and it had a 'P' registration with a manual tranny! If the one you are eyeing is still unreg then it can't be the same, obviously!!!

    Bad (or may be good) news, the owner has sold the Pathfinder to someone while I was out of country.

    This is second time that I am not able to get my hands on the same vehicle.

    @parapilot

    That indeed is bad news.....recent surge in 4x4 prices have made these 'under a million' 4x4/SUVs precious metal sort of commodity, especially if they are COMPLETE n RELIABLE.....hardly anyone cares if they are gasoline or LHD vehicles....as long as they are up and running, people have a knack for these.....I call it a Cultus VXL budget....and going 4wd in that kind of money works for me, atleast....get my point?

    Desert G,

    It was the day of my travelling when I found out it was again ready to be in new arms . I told that guy "done" and I will be back in a week's time with payment. Yesterday when I called him again, it was gone.

    Where did I go wrong there?

    @ Para, strange co-incidence, On wednesday last week, I had to go Pindi to buy some car parts from Mehran Autos on Kashmir Rd. Across the road was parked a pathfinder white with ORAD sticker on tailgate, and reg no ict pe-xxx. It was white with greyish blue interior, probably the one I saw last year. It was 3.3 petrol, LHD, Oman embassy auction, the guy was getting a new sound system or security system. He told me he bought it last night i.e tuesday. I asked him the price but he didn't answer.
