Is it just the noise that bothers you or is the transmission giving you troubles?
You can put in Mercedes 220D diffs in it, i'm surprised your mechanic has not already suggested that.

1st Option - Pajero Gen 1 has IFS Diffs. Thats what I have used for both front and back. Need alot of alteration.

2nd Option - MB E220 diffs are independent.

3rd Option - alternation of any suitable tube diff into an independent axle diff.

Lots of option, depending on what you are willing to experiment and your patience level with the mechanic of explaining how to do it :-)

Mind you once you start playing with the diff then you might as well re-do the entire drivetrain such as: front & rear axles, 4x4 and rear shaft, gearbox, cross / cv joints, cv hubs, supsension mod due to extra weight, and the list goes on :-p

If you change your gearbox then be careful on the front diff alignment, as all other gearboxes would have their 4x4 shafts from the side, hence woul d need to attach tube on one side of the diff to align the 4x4 shaft. i.e. the front diff would need to be on the side. So you are only left with Option 1 & 3 if you decide to change your gearbox.

if it is posiable that we can switch the diffs ...i mean rear diffs with front.... that might reduce the noise... ...it is very dificult to make modification /changes in Mutt.... so its better to have jimmney or mimi pajero if u realy fedup.... i dont suggest u to make it Change .... otherwise it will be the bigest Punga of ur life.
