Default The Jeep K1 Cruiser Appreciation Thread

There is lots to be said on this one. Firstly I call it the Jeep K1 Cruiser because the vast majority of these have a K1 badge painted on the back and the large majority of these will be found running on Toyota LandCruiser BJ40 parts. In the story of Pakistani jeeps and 4x4 in, there is perhaps no bigger indigenous icon or marvel than this. After a long wait, I finally caught one more than worthy of telling the story with, parked at its true birthplace: Citi Sadar Road, Rawalpindi. As I said earlier. there is lots more to be said here.

Default Had been looking for this one for sometime....

Thank you Doc Ehsan for doing this sometime back. Guess this one is typically a passenger style setup with Rocky diffs and the 3C engine while the one above is a loading setup.

    Exclamation Nice Thread

    King of Karakorams

Masherbrum is one of the magnificent peaks of Karakoram Pakistan. The peak is also known as K-1 name by British survey team in 1856.

Out of the 14 eight thousand meter high peaks in the world, 5 are situated in Pakistan

Serious mountaineering in Karakoram began in 1892 when Mr. Martin Conway while carrying our survey of the upper Indus, attempted to climb peaks in the area including Rakaposhi. He returned to the region in 1902 when he tried to climb K-2.

A jeep able trek from Skardu to Askole reducing the reaching time to K-2 base camp might be the reason of writing K-1 on these Jeeps SK.

Default Raiding the Flickr K1 Treasure Trove...

Having been somewhat let down by google images for lousy K1 coverage, I stumbled upon Flickr and did a search and . I am citing the photographers and linking each pic to hopefully avoid ticking off the photographers for using their photos in the name of the K1 Jeeps that apparently served them well during their trips. I have to say that I have found some really great photography on Flickr and it was truly a treat searching through the pics as much as it was a pain to link the photos and credit all the photographers! Hopefully, the effort will be worth something in the end!
