We have a offroad cult called Dabwali jeeps here in India. The garages in Dabwali-Malout and Sirsa Belt purchase Army disposal jeeps and refurbish these with Toyota engines/gears. The axles are checked for faults and generally the four wheel drive is done away with. A dead axle is replaced making the front lighter. Disc brakes are added in front and leaf springs brackets at the rears are added to check body rolls. Excellent 2k paint jobs are applied in Military and Desert shades. Generally 15" alloys with matching radials replace the 16" steel rims.
Nowadays, another body job with cutting the bonnet and replacing the windscreen with square ones is in vouge and the final result is a Ford type low bonnet jeep. There are around 400 such jeeps in Chandigarh- Mohali - Panchkula alone.
Any such jeep would cost around 1.25 lac to 1.75 lac depending upon the addons you add.
