Default New Mod in my Nissan Patrol

Here is a 230 Liter Diesel tank i worked up last week.
The original tank was a leaky one. Why this? well a replacement for the original one was a takeout available (no guarantee) at BJ priced at 16k.

This one cost me a mere less than 10k, constructed of 14 gauge polished steel. Weighs more than 50kg's and practically bulletproof for life (my personal guarantee.
It does kinda look odd having a big tank sitting in the rear tray and i surely it will be attracting the law unnecessarily but it solves my problem and gives 230 liters of diesel to drive, about 1800 kilometers without refueling.

If you are wondering that it is out of a truck, nope i made it. Got a sheet from the market, sketched it, had it cut and bent, then welded it up.

Thought i'd share it with you guys.

Ahem.....now I get it, so this was your original plan all along to chop that Patrol off and fit a big gas tank! And you can fill her up on every 30th of the month and make up by selling diesel at higher rates.....smart, very smart!
    Hey Mitsu,
Never thought of it that way before, but your idea is interesting.
Running low on cash, sell some diesel out that tank.

Well it was never about utility. As you know i've been hooked up with a 4 inch lift by our profound member you know. Now with a winch setup weighing about 70-80kgs at the front all the weight is actually at the front. The rear was 6 inches high than standard which causes huge problems with the suspension and with no real grip as there is no weight at the back. With a 230 liter tank filled up 3/4 it comes down to 4 inches balancing out the vehicle and that weight makes the tires stick to the road. I was having problems with the tail spinning out every turn at normal speeds which is quite unusual for a 4x4 humongous 4x4 to do.

The second reason i did was the local fuel contamination. I've filled up the Np at almost every pump in hopes of getting uncontaminated fuel but with no luck. I get 10 liters of water in every 100 liters of fuel plus the crap which flows in from the tanks. What i do is simply fill it up let it sit for a night, then i open up the drain nut and let the water out and close it up as soon as the diesel starts to flow out. A crude technique for filteration but it works for me. You know that is the reason why Common rail diesels have a very short life in pakistan and so EFi one's also have a minor issue with this. If i don't drain the water and just use what comes from the pump i am prone to loose the pump and injectors at a very fast pace.

I do agree that this tank is a bit controversial but makes my life a bit easier.

If 12 Gauge tempered and polished steel with 8 gauge L type iron beam external shell is not good enough then i can't do any better than that. I did test it by topping it off with water and pressurizing it at 8 psi with nothing going wrong.

From my experience i have seen 500 liter plastic, and i mean desi plastic tanks which hold veg oil (which is heavier than diesel) for ages. Locals have mounted them on small pick up trucks and drive the thing like its stolen and go on for years with out a single leak and i think is steel is much stronger than average plastic

But in the light of things that my knowledge is only limited to my stupidity i might and can be wrong with this.

Arrow Auxiliary Tank Aluminum Diamond Plate Finish

New Mod in a Nissan -125741

Sherwan if Parco shuts down one more time which is possible, it will pay back your effort. The best use of Auxiliary tank will be when you are traveling Up North. Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel 3.1 Max can do 850km in a main tank whats your will do with both tanks.

Also there is a guage Trax II dash mounted LCD display to monitor combined fuel levels, and the operation status of the fuel system.

    Janj,
This is the main tank and i calculate it to do 1800 km with 230 liters of fuel though it could go upto 2300kms if i hit the highways. Lets say i can drive to Karachi and still have 1/4 tank with fuel.
