    Default Toyota Indus to Launch High Chasis Hilux Double Cabin

    Hi Guys
    Called up Toyota garden yesterday to inquire about the booking of up-spec D-cabin Hilux (S.A Assembled with 5L Engine) the reply was that they are not taking any bookings as Indus are launching Pakistan assembled high chasis D-Cabin fitted with a 2 KD engine(2500 CC D4D) when i asked about the expected price i was told that it has not yet been disclosed but is expected to be lower than the price of SA assembled counterpart (I.e. 3.5 million)

    Does any body have some more on this news? on a separate note do you guys think Indus should launch the D4D engine owing to the fact that it doesn't tolerate Pakistani diesel with high quantity of Sulpher?

    will be interested to see all your comments.

    Drive carefully! Remember, it's not only a car that can be recalled by it's maker.

    Agreed with the prices you have quoted. thanks for the correction mate!
    theres no mistake, there charging 1.5 lacks to give Prado rims, i guess the other one has 15" and Prado ones are 17"
    Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

    if you like to own a d4d engine then always use low Viscosity engine oils. this engine need a good oil on first start up. fully syntheic oils like 5W-40 or 5w-30 SM/CF is a good choise for this engine.

    as far as i know there will be no auto. so far we're still very satisfied with the machine and it is serving its purpose well. only thing we've done is remove the nasty looking roof rack.

    @Storm...

    The model name is Hilux Turbo. Is it turbo charged? and if it is, is the other one (the stripped down version) turbo charged too?? because according to toyota's website, both vehicles have the same engine and the same power output.

    Also, have you driven the one that was available from toyota earlier, the non-turbo 3 litre version imported from south africa. If yes, do you feel any difference in power in the two. Because, i think the 3 litre non-turbo charged was a bit under powered. How do you rate the overall power and feel of this one?

    thanks guys, the 2KD is more than enough engine for this vehicle and its intended use. However if anyone really wanted to, they could add an intercooler (and bonnet scoop) and gain a few more ponies. personally i don't think i'll be doing that as this a just an office run-about.

    The old 5LE version (3L non-turbo) was an absolute dog and was not worth a penny as is was as slow as a snail. The vehicle has benefitted allot from the 2KD powerplant. I havn't done any performance runs or fuel economy calculations yet as it is still doing its run-in and is still on its first tank of diesel. From what i can feel from the first 2000rpm is that it'll be quick enough, but nowhere near as fast as the 3.0L version. adding an intercooler WILL make it faster though.

    Interior quality and build quality is good (expected from a new car) and i think it'll wear well over time.

    @striker
    yup, both have the same engine the only difference is that this one has an AC and ABS, airbags, stereo etc.

    @salik990
    yup, same colour as the corolla, it's made in the same plant and offered in the same corolla colours.

    @mani1
    I only have one interior pic at the moment so here you go:

    Hi
    I have also bought one.
    Sorry can't upload the pictures yet as I am in Islamabad and left the Truck in Abbottabad.
    I have been using a D4D 3.0 Surf for almost 4 years now and have done 92000KM on it without any single problem mashallah.
    Only thing is its totally Toyota maintained including Filters, oil, etc.

    Salik990 Sir can you provide any further details regarding this intercooler.

    Even without the intercooler its performance is fine.

    u r right...its not necessary to add intercooler unless if u r using for heavy load n taking it mostly for offroading, sometime it help in hot climate.....btw i ve found this intercooler pics on the net n someone was selling online in malaysia

    now that is a great alternative for anyone wanting more power. there is also an upgraded turbo available in thailand (i think it's thailand) where you get a little more hp and torque (in addition to the intercooler) which brings the power very near the 3.0L d4d vigo engine.
