Folks, I'm a big fan of 3 door SUV's. If you've got any for sale, please send me an email. I'm interested in getting one for myself. The priority list goes like this.
    1. Wrangler, AT, Black color, 2002 onwards.
    2. Nissan Safari/Patrol/Kingsroad, 3 door, Black or White.
    3. Prado, RX S or RZ, Black or Silver, 1996 onwards.

In my quest for a 3 door, I've so far reviewed the following. Please feel free to comment and advise.

    1. Wrangler TJ 2002 on a CJ7 chassis. nice job done but refused it on the grounds that A) asking too much money (1.5m) and B) am looking for something original.

    2. Nissan Patrol 1993 Kingsroad, 3 door. Nice jeep, all leather etc. No sunroof though. Its seen its days for sure but still in a good nick. Its unregistered hence the registration alone would cost around 200k + and I'm thinking twice about taking on a 17 yr old project. Also, do not have a clear idea in the market price. Any suggestion would be welcome.

    3. Mitsubishi Evolution 1997, 3.5, V6 petrol. Bloody nice to look at and certainly a show stopper. But asking the moon and the stars for it. Wonder how much should it really be worth. A+ condition.

    4. TLC 80 series (1996). Here's the question. The owner says he's changed/repaired just about everything that needed repairing. Am wondering if this is a good sign or a bad one. Expert opinions please..!!.

TLC 80 series is one of the best beast u can find. but take som one with experience of 80 series for a test drive. because it wont tell a new driver about any of its history.well getting things repaired is not a bad thing. if the engine is good and if there is no peroblems or sounds from the gears. then there is nothing to worry about. but always get a good half an hour test drive through all the gears and a bit of som rough track as well if its an automatic then keep an eye on the 4x4 light and cheak weather it engages and disengages properly.

@Ati434, many thanks for your expert comments. I really like the TLC 80, its a 1996, 5 door, 4.2 L Diesel AT but I've yet to see it as its in Islamabad. Your tips are very valuable indeed. What price range would you set on such a vehicle?

@Ati434, thanks bro. Janj suggested a wrangler TJ as well but hasn't responded on that yet. As for the TLC 80, i will only have to see it to comment on it. Perhaps by this weekend I can drive up to Isl. Saw another TLC 80, 1996 AT here in Lahore. Nice clean body but the engine's been worked upon. Rings replaced etc. Will test drive it tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll post an update on the Test Drive. Thanks so much for your valuable comments.

@ATI434, I cannot thank you enough for your comments and advice. The HJ 61 is a nice project but I'm looking for something "younger". If you recall I had posted comments on the 93 Nissan Safari as being a "17 year old project" and was wondering if it would be worth the effort.

Folks, heard that the govt. is planning to allow the import of vehicles as old as 5 years on the existing duty structure. Off hand, would that have an impact on current market prices???

Can anyone please highlight the major differences between a Surf SSR-X and Surf SSR-G. I've found two that have the same specs. Wonder what the difference it?.

Right... here goes. After searching the length and breath of country, as far as Chitral actually, I've zeroed in and selected a Surf 1997, SSR G, IKZ IC, D/AT. The engine has been changed from the original and the suspension work been re-done. It's in the best condition out of all the vehicles I've seen and researched. A few things need to be fixed and I wanted to get some expert comments on this please.
    1. There's oil on the engine and the mechanic tells me the Tappet seals need to be replaced.
    2. Same for the sump as the seals need replacing.
    3. I'm not too sure on how a 4x4 system works in an Auto Surf. There's a green light in the middle for a Central Diff. Lock and the rest are the same L4 High and Lows. Getting back to the 2WD's has been an issue. Want to try that out in greater detail.
    4. The body's excellent and in perfect condition, no dents or repairs. The paint however has been re-sprayed in a few places, so I've been told.

All in all it runs perfectly and I have all the plans to go ahead with it. Getting the papers checked from Islamabad now so any suggestions or heads up there would also be welcome.

Please feel free to give advice and comments. This is my first 4x4 project and I have no intention of re-inventing the wheel, so to say. Your expert advice on all matters will be highly appreciated.
