VC, been thinking about it, as you can see from attached pic, its the most basic setup. Simplest thing to start off would be would be to remove leafspring no 3 and 5 counting from the top and than replace right at the bottom two very short length ones so that height remains the same. Does it make sense, will give more flex that way to the remaining long leafs. They are very long leaf leafsprings as you can see from side view.

The question about more weight at the back to improve traction will remain unsolved even that way, so probably would have to add some weight still at the back. Rear lockers may improve things slightly as well, but getting hold of a nissan locker for this tubing would not be easy as this kind is relatively rare in Pakistan.

    Awaiting more in-put from all........

It is a great looking ride for sure!

Let's see now: that is a basic Hotchkiss type live axle, simple but very strong and effective. The springs have 8 leaves in two groups for a progressive rate. Counting from the top (longer to shorter) the first one has the shackle eyelets, then the next four are used all the time, and the last 3 come into play when the load compresses the spring to bring them into play.

Chaging this type is relatively easy. You can experiment with removing the leaves, except the first with the shackes and the last shortest one, as long as the thickness of the spring at the U-bolt mounting is kept the same with mean of a simple steel block of the correct thickness with a hole for the locating center bolt. This spacer need not be long, just the correct thickness and can be added between the top leaf and the bottom of the axle to keep the ride height the same as stock.

I agree with you with starting with the #3 leaf.

This will reduce the jounce at the back end, and you will probably need some weight still, but it will be worlds better than just adding weight, because the addition of the weight will require stronger dampening by the shocks to be effective.

Adding a locker will improve traction and will be a good addition if you can find a suitable unit. There is enough space for an air-bladder kit to be added too. Please let me know if I can help source any parts that you might decide on, after wise people (unlike me ) chime in too.

BTW, what are the brackets along the rear axle that are empty? That looks like the positioning of the handbrake assembly cables. Do you have a functioning handbrake in the truck?

Thnx, the spacer would need to be added at the bottom i.e below the smallest leafspring, as adding between axle and top leafspring would bring the body down, and wouldn't be of any use?

Don't know what the brackets are for???? And yes the hand brake does work, kind of in a funny way, i.e allows slight forward and backward movement in it like when you have an auto car in Park position. The brochure / spec sheet confirms the brake is on propellar shaft!

Sorry, I must be low on caffeine! You are correct about the location of the spacer.

Propeller shaft brakes are cool. Yours probably just needs an adjustment. The brackets must be for other markets with cable operated brakes.

@ Qwerty, you sound very much like an ARB rep, how much discount will you be able to get for me??

By the way, how would lift kit and sliders help with rear traction and bouncy ride?

Tyres are already 32", so won't be upgrading to 33".

I am no representative i just keep an eye for good quality offroading stuff.(for my fantasy offorader of course). Well once you have hard core equipment like air lockers and Old man emu suspention then why not a life kit ? and sliders too give the ride extra clearance and underside protection.
