    Default engine for my pajero

    What is the best engine out there for a pajero. I have a 1990 3-door running on the stock engine. Have removed the turbo setup. Now looking for a good diesel engine around 3000cc and not too expensive and easily available in Pakistan/Karachi. Any ideas?

    oh ic..my father knows him from a long time back(many yrs)..he used to buy pajero parts from my dad,and my dad gave all his jeeps to him for mechanical work

    By the way what happened to the stock engine....It is the most suitable engine for the 3-Door. What about the stock brake (which is not so good) and lack of tracking system because upgrading to a higher engine will increase the torque and you have to manage the torque also.

    @Gtir: I do have the stock 4D56TI.Im looking for something with a little more punch.

    i will recommend that u choose a mitsubishi engine 2800cc. it will be cheaper and effective, without major altearions on engine bay and mounts.
    Keep a cool head and wear seatbelts!

    @ spcetra
    the original 2800cc is the 4M40 suggested by Gtir. I good choice as it gives abt 125hp, while the 2.5 gives about 95hp

    i think tht the 4D56Ti is enough for a 3 door,it has 99 hp...the 4M40 is not tht realiable as compared to 4d56, babu mistri also says tht....neways its ur choice, if u swap a 4m40 urs will the fastest pajero i think

    if you meet this babu guy, you will be surprised how he designs engine mounts and tranny mounts. And he backs his stuff. Any alteration is a no biggie to him he has done it all and over countless number of times.

    if you like something withmore punch you might have to select a different make of engines. And there plenty of them out there.
