    Default Black smoke of Diesel

    Guys...!

What to be checked, other than atomizers if the engine is disbursing high smoke even at the state of idle start.

    I have 13BT installed in my LC60.

Have already serviced and optimized atomizers. And what is the criteria to know that now atomizers are replaceable.

    Regards,

the big problem for 4x4 newbies like me is that all new jeep owners gets very complicated and complexed technical answers to their problems while they need to know the solution in layman's language

However i must be thankful to everybody for their concern and response - now please let me know simply that should i get my turbo checked or the fuel pump needs to be optimized? as i have already get nozzles serviced

Very well said bro.. but thats how we all learnt this stuff

anyways. seeing ur response i dont think there is an immediate threatning issue.. that idle blue smoke is something we cant correct by tuning anything.. anybody correct me if i am wrong!!!

As i said a puff of black smoke at acceleration is OK! huge clouds of smoke.. well let me explain why there is black smoke.

Black smoke on acceleration is unburnt diesel.. you are pumping more fuel than the engine can burn.. reason could be:

    1. Pedal to floor condition - diesels usually dont like such situation.. avoid it.. gradual is better.. try this
    2. Air restriction - if there is low oxygen how will the fuel burn.. same thing we notice on high altitude
    3. Overfueling - this is the last thing to tweak
    4. nozzle spray pattern - we need a spray here.. you have already done that

Learn about your engine The turbo is pumping in air/oxygen for good burning. the turbo engine's injection pump (IP) is set to add a "little more" fuel so that you get that kick in speed! this happens when the turbo is at a certain RPM i.e. sufficient boost pressure.. the pressure is fed back to IP via a diaphram to "fuel up".

    thats the theory part

First thing to check is Air cleaner and all piping - No restriction!

    then check ur turbo operation..

    1. Is there any oil consumption issue? Any visible leak/seapege around turbo?
    2. You need a boost gauge. I used a normal pressure gauge (25PSI max scale).. made an adaptor to fit in a capilary pipe.. this gauge can be installed permanently in the jeep so u knw how much pressure the turbo is building.. get this gauge to confirm turbo working.. (will put up pics of my setup)
    3. Once you establish turbo is OK.. this means ur pump diaphram is a bit off.. may be adding too much fuel thats creating the black cloud.. there is a whole procedure to do it.. can be done easily.. but needs a full smoke therapy course work

thats it for now.. going for a meeting.. let me knw if this helped

    Regards,
when you fill the diesel tank, mix 1/2 LTR diesel.

have the air filter replaced only and amazingly there is alot of improvement now. nothing else has been touched. now smoke only comes with a hard push on accelerator.

Thanks everybody - though i think i still may have to get the turbo serviced
