    Default Mini Pajero gear question

A friend of mine has this following problem.

He has a mini pajero having 660cc automatic transmission gear which he is running on petrol.

He doesn't like the automatic transmission as he complains that it doesn't have strength in top speed. So he is interested to know the following.

    1. Can he change it to manual transmission and what will be the price of kabli gear?

    2. Can a junior pajero 1300cc engine fit in mini pajero? Price of 1300cc engine and can it be tuned with CNG?

    3. And do the mini pajero's have 1300cc engines?

    AoA noman bhai,

Which model of Mini Pajero does your friend has? prior to 98 models have three speed forward auto i.e. top gear available is 3rd, 98 plus models have four speed forward auto. Therefore, these newer one's are less fuel thirsty and feel more powerfull.

Regarding the question of going for a swap, yes it is possible with Junior Pajero engine, but its 1100cc not 1300cc, junior's engine can be fitted on the same mounts, but you have to change the differentials as well.

I myself have a mini pajero 660 cc auto 2001 model.

Mini pajero Manual gear should not cost you more then 10-12k. Thats a five speed gear and works very well. Changing to 1100 junior is also doable but as advised above you will have to change the diffs also. i would suggest just go for a manual tranny and you will have a decent improvement in speed and consumption..

    Hello sir,

I am a guy from the philippines and I also own a Pajero mini XR-2. I have a problem, when running at 60KM/H, the engine is already revving at 3.2k RPM. I think that the gears are in low speed configuration? What can I do to improve its speed and consumption? Can I bypass the transfer case? I think it is the one that is low speed. I dont care about the 4WD function. I like its apearrance, thats ol. Your help will be valued well.
