Default Testing M/Ts on Old Ravi near Pattoki

We went off of Multan Road near Pattoki towards the Old River Ravi bed. Idea was to explore the river bed beyond a normal car reach and test our 4 x 4 Vehicles.

Let the pics speak for themselves

We had a tractor on rescue mission following us throughout.. so we were rather bold in getting stuck

    Lovely...

So whats the Revelation, An FJ40 with all stock including 2F motor and ice M/Ts in comparison with two of the time & terrain tested (among) best off-roaders of their respective times?

@tareen : IMHO, when it comes to pure off roading the FJ40 had an edge over both time tested off roaders. The shorter wheel base, less weight, the ground clearance, 40s reduction ratio etc makes the classic excellent for off roading.. both the 80 series and the 90 series got stuck at some point where as the 40 just kept going
HOWEVER, what the FJ40 wouldn't give is the comfort that the other two will give while off roading.. that is, off roading with your A/C on n windows rolled up... without dirt or sand getting on you or in your eyes.. and most importantly getting to the track doing 60 or 70 mph on the highway
yes the stock FJ40 with 2F is not designed to do 70mph on high way.. On the track it has all the power required but is not built for speeding on highway. So getting to the destination track might be a downer for some.
One thing which is best for me and the main reason for my love of the 40 is the simplicity of the design and operations. Simplicity gives more reliability!

@DeeDee : you bet bro! Tube Well is indeed a luxury after an excursion like this one. Definitly the trip savior and high point

@janj : thanks for pointing out the mistakes bro. I appreciate it.

@all : thanks for liking the post. I am a novice off roader and trying to learn by sharing and discussing.

@nOmS6....brother, very nicely & precisely put. I second u. Assuming there was no tractor(the extractor) available, under the same given conditions, there would have been much more mud & dirt on the occupants of the 80 & 90 series than those of 40 series. I think its a big edge.

For the tarmac comfort. As a real example, my friends & I remember & generally talk about the trips we took in the 40 series rather than the ones we have in Pajero & Parado. I think think one gets charged & the mood is tuned the moment he steps into a 40 series right from ones home.

Driving air conditioned vehicles off road is more like playing Offroad Extreme on play station. They are so much comfortable & easy, that one does not feel a thing about terrain. 40 series makes everything tangible.
