    Default Anyone know the gear ratios on the Evo?

    Just out of curiousity, but useful if maybe @Mitsuman can maybe school us on Mitsu gear ratios! Also for @Saidhi, @DesertDevil, @MMC as to what ratios do their desert racing / road raging pajeros run?

    BTW its not a trick question as I recall seeing some numbers on the net but can't really recall and too lazy to look it up at this stage And just to clarify curious about diff gear ratios only!

    Cheers,
    SK

    @saidhi: no worries! we don't understand it either... we just churn out second hand numbers and feel cool about it I can hear @nn going "speak for yerself, Suhaib"!!!

    In a nutshell basically what (me thinks) it means is that the manual EVO has shorter diff gearing (more power/torque but lower top speed in each gear) than the auto... with possibly a shorter fifth gear as well.

    @nomi: Dude, take out the 1KZ and put in a 1JZ and add CNG to it! BTW reminds me, did you ever figure out if you have 4.3 or 4.88 gears????

    Thank You @MitsuMan: Here is the full deal that I could gather...

    Pajero T/case & Final Drive Ratio's

    Gen 1

    2.3TD = 4.875, 5.29
    2.6 / 2.5TD = 4.625, 4.875
    2.5TDI = 4.625, 4.875
    3.0 V6 = 4.625, 4.875
    t/case = 1.944:1 low range for 2.6, 2.3TD & 2.5TD, 1.925:1 for 3.0 V6

    Gen 2

    2.6 = 4.875
    2.5TD & 2.5TDI = 4.875, 5.29
    3.0 V6 = 4.625, 4.875
    2.8D = 4.875
    2.8TDI = 4.90
    3.5 DOHC V6 = 4.636
    t/case = 1.925:1 low range for 2.6, 2.5TD, 2.5TDI & 3.0 V6, 1.90:1 for 2.8TDI & 3.5 DOHC V6

    Gen 3

    2.8TDI = 4.90 5sp man
    3.2 DID = 3.917 5sp auto or 4.10 for 5sp man
    3.5 SOHC V6 = 4.30 5sp man & 5sp auto
    3.8 SOHC V6 = 4.30 5sp auto
    t/case = 1.90:1 for all

    Based on all of the above and some simple maths my guess is that the
    - Auto Evo runs a 4.636 diff with a 0.731 5th gear
    - Manual runs a 4.875 diff with a 0.819 5th gear.

    Generally speaking, I know its all giberish to most of us out here, but when you compare the Mitsu ratios to the Toyota ratios (outlined by NN) you can sense that the Mitsu ratios are on the aggressive side, which in all likelihood contributes to the excellent rally performance of these cars....

    I was not proposing anything really But Bro it seems that you need to openly confess your "sin" out here and stop wallowing in your guilt !

    So far, touch wood.... I would re-sin this sin a thousand times bro! A couple of weeks ago I wouldn't have said the same thing, and I also don't say the same thing every time I queue up for hi-octane!

    Cheers.

    As you can see the RKR is given most priority. This can be sign of right path and success.

    Forget the speed and rpm and keep an eye on the temperature gauge.. after all its a Pajero and the temperature guage has to be give most importance.

    No amigo.....showing off never pays! This was all in the name of science and at the horrendous cost over 100 rupee HOBC!!!
    Btw, thats a real sad avatar....whats wrong amigo????.....anything ol' mitsu can do to cheer things up????

    @RAO

    Lets see Mr.Sinner doing Shandur this summer in the sin wagon and then we'll talk!
    I hate rich people . Amigo, all I know is that you better keep your phone on during that week Don't worry, taking along an extra clutch plate, a fuel pump, an Oil Control Valve, 4 brake calipers, 4 extra shocks, lots of HOBC, for the rest, I've figured it out. If it doesn't feel like it should, start pressing on the grips to the sensors, its magic. Lots more interesting than your boring, stock, unused army of Pajeros. Oh baby, you should feel the torque in low range!!!! And no problem, if the sinner, starts sinning, I will have big truck back ups courtesy TEAM UNIMOG

    On a serious note, I knew all this when the jugaar started, so cannot complain unless the engine dies totally. But then we'll have an excuse to blame Toyota. Can't lose either way.

    Sinned.
