    Default Project Restoration / Modification / Up gradation Toyota BJ40 (o---o) 1967.

Here you go guys, My recent acquisition of Army Retired 1967 Toyota FJ40, currently with a hilux diesel motor matted with 4x4 SSR gear box.

Plan is to keep the current engine for a while till the body works gets completed, including roll cage installation, front & rear bull bars, big foot, seats, Snorkel, etc then the motor will be, either replaced with ledendry Toyota 13BT diesel or an Iconic Toyota 3B diesel with a H55F 5Fwd Manual Gear Box.

    Congratulations on the acquire !

What steering wheel is in it ? and what are those two rubber pipes bringing into the passenger cabin from the engine compartment (PIC4)?
what are your plans about the body work ? color etc?
How much did you pay for it?

Please share the restoration process as it goes. Thanks.

These are fuel pipes, installed temporarily to pull the rig to my place. the stock ones were chocked.

You suggest me the color and work to be done. I just want to make it something which is a daily driver but have a good capability of off roading too.

    Something between nOmS6 & Tareen

    PMed you the purchase price.

    Color Suggestions:

Pearl white (offered in corolla)or Diamond Black (offered in merc,BMW)
Matelic blue. Also called electric blue by honda.
RED...same as that offered in new city.
Qaiser Pal,I have not failed. But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them, confuse them

IMHO J40s look good with darker shades.. grays or blacks.. Matt finish looks better than polished shining one.

If I was to do mine again, I would go for a Gun Metal Grey powder coating.

    Default Striping OFF

    Here you go Guys....!

The body is off today - Have came to know that the rear diff is also replaced with Hilux SSR to get high speed. However, front diff is stock. Not much work required for panel beating or patch replacement. I am happy for this at least.

As far as the suspension is concerned, all brake lines and ball joints with steering box need replacement. And yes, one leaf spring of rear side is also broken.

Silencer need replacement with a better one, and need to relocate the fuel tank too, which comes under driver seat in pre 70s models. Any suggestions where to place the tank?? it cant be placed underneath of drivers floor as there is no room for it due to the bigger SSR gear box.
