    Default Project Restoration / Modification / Up gradation Toyota BJ40 (o---o) 1967.

Here you go guys, My recent acquisition of Army Retired 1967 Toyota FJ40, currently with a hilux diesel motor matted with 4x4 SSR gear box.

Plan is to keep the current engine for a while till the body works gets completed, including roll cage installation, front & rear bull bars, big foot, seats, Snorkel, etc then the motor will be, either replaced with ledendry Toyota 13BT diesel or an Iconic Toyota 3B diesel with a H55F 5Fwd Manual Gear Box.

Great progress brother within a month's time considering the weather and diversity of work involved in the rebuilding. Things look pretty much in place, just misplaced due to negligence. Hope to see the tonka roaring around very soon, Insha Allah

Yes indeed, it will be the best place to visit now. Though its been a while I passed that way. Today I'm going to have the first road test-drive. If it goes well, Insha Allah we r going for the first off-road test drive there.

will have to redo the engine -

an idiot in the workshop pushed the gasoline damped cloth in air inlet to jump start it quickly, result - Pistons left scratches on sleeves and may be some broken rings too

    Default The Roll Cage Punga

    Friends,

i have short listed two roll cage options, two pictures for each option are given below to have a clear idea..

Option one is little more complex as it includes front seat foundations as well. However the second one though also require alot of pipe bending skills of the fabricator but is comparatively easy to do.

    Here you go:

    Option-1

    1967 Toyota o---o FJ40 -269147

    Option-2

    1967 Toyota o---o FJ40 -269148

    1967 Toyota o---o FJ40 -269149

Which one is better? Pls suggest.

Default Engine & Gear Under restoration.

Complete engine overhaul being done including came replacement, sleeves, new pistons, valves, head etc. gear box service also undergo

Another surprise is that the SSR transfer case is electronically controlled so the next challenge is to find a programmer of electronic transfer case. self starter has also been replaced with a newer model one: 1967 Toyota o---o FJ40 -269424

    Default The Color

Have selected Sporty Yellow Color for the rig due to following reasons:

    Looks more eye catching
Have almost all other basic colors in home vehicles.
Never kept any yellow vehicle before.
The motor registration authority has written yellow color on it as they write any random color on vehicle record because army green is not allowed any more at the time of registration of auction vehicles

See how it will look like And yes , engine is back again today after re over haul.

    Nice color

    But ur sticking wid a 2.2 L
For the rig this size I dont think that Toyota L will deliver. I am sure you will be haveing budget constraints but change the engine.
These days it is not diffcult to find a 2B or a 3L cheap.

I agree with you bro. The motor has to be changed in any case, Bs & 3L or + are difficult to find here in Multan. However i have a consideration to replace the motor with 1UZ-FE later on, currently the priority is to take out the rig from workshop

    Pls keep suggesting.
