    Default Project Restoration / Modification / Up gradation Toyota BJ40 (o---o) 1967.

Here you go guys, My recent acquisition of Army Retired 1967 Toyota FJ40, currently with a hilux diesel motor matted with 4x4 SSR gear box.

Plan is to keep the current engine for a while till the body works gets completed, including roll cage installation, front & rear bull bars, big foot, seats, Snorkel, etc then the motor will be, either replaced with ledendry Toyota 13BT diesel or an Iconic Toyota 3B diesel with a H55F 5Fwd Manual Gear Box.

    Arrow Addition in Roll Cage

Little change and addition of cross bars at rear portion of roll cage.

    1967 Toyota o---o FJ40 -332506

Apologies for poor quality of picture as taken from cell phone at night.

And yes - yellow color on roll cage is a bad idea - second thoughts on roll cage color

I wish I knew it happening, I would have (as usual) suggested something (as a habit) ;-)

Something that would have served the same purpose yet looked DANDY (as a cousin of mine says) and GDASS (as my brother says). :-)

Lets keep it for our noon meeting for the sake of discussion atleast.

    Default Todays Status

The jeep is out of the den today for trial - quite satisfying performance other than few minor jobs which are yet to be done like dash meters cluster replacement - fuel pump tuneup brakes adjustment, manual hub locks installation etc along with few electrical jobs.

Overall it showed great power and performance on a short but tough off road obstacles

Below are todays pictures though the quality of pics is not good due to mobile cam but at least you can get the idea of current outlook of the FJ.

I am now thinking to get hold on a 5tons Warn winch with a 3 feet high lift jack.

And yes, soon you'll see a custom made FJ trailer as well either for my J40 or it will be towed with @Tareen Crawler Cruiser 1967 Toyota o---o FJ40 -347068

Well well well...thats a wonderful job! Most of the things came as a surprise but nothing short of 'great'! The idea of Jurassic stickers is awesome and so is the set of front indicators & auxiliary lights front & back.

Eagerly waiting to see it on Sunday, Insha Allah.

    Regards

She somewhat sits high on the chassis to me, otherwise the stance is great.

I would've liked the stance in the following picture better:

    Looking good.

I hope these Kamani Mounting Brackets are welded super fast because no one wants the weld to split up under load and rough driving conditions on our pathetic roads.

A clamp over the pipping welded securely would have been better idea as the clamp would have held the trailer chassis even if the weld had split up. My 2 cents worth.

    with due respect

the trailer design is wrong. the leaf springs are attached to the frame directly it will create a PULL for Puller wobbling when loaded and in momentum it will PUSH the puller causing disaster.

the puller V bracket shall be connected to a square tubular chassis like frame over which the whole trunk box can be fixed, the suspension, electrical wiring, linkage hydrualic or mechanical brake line shall run in the tubular while the box is fixed with rubber suspension over the chassis. rig a wiring fused harness directly from fuse box to rear of FJ with control switch connected to main driving lights so when you hook up the trailer it has a functional set of warning lights behind.

for reference visit some suzuki specialist and see how the carrier bed is connected to main chassis.

    no offence.
