Default Toyota Landcruiser 1986 HJ60 or BJ60 H2 deisel engine Heating issues

I was recently travelling from Karachi to lahore and my lancruiser heated up whenever I stopped the car with AC on under the extreme hot sun and temperature shot to near red top position

i had even changed engine gasket, replace radiator jali with dolphin jali and still i get same issues. i plan to look at the fan clutch to make sure.

can anyone suggest any good reliable mechanic in Karachi?

Also wanted to know from where i can buy genuine landcruiser heavy duty radiator as i suspect i may need new radiator.

Your problem sounds like a classic fan clutch problem.. Good that its a toyota and you can refill it with new silicone fluid.. (toyota sell this fluid as a replacement part)

check the fan for roaring when starting the engine dead cold, it should roar as the fan clutch is engaged, and once it gets to temperature it should start to couple and move a lot of air (and roar too) fully in sync with engine speed.

The bimetal spring in the centre should be clean and free of dirt and the radiator fins should be clean as the clutch's bimetal spring needs to get hot and warp out of shape to engage.

You will usually find the clutch has lost its fluid and is not coupling hard enough or at all for effecient cooling of the engine.

I just recently redid my mercedes fan clutch here in the US - but in my case I cannot fully open up the clutch like yours - and had to live with baking it in the oven and injecting silicone oil by guessing..

be there and supervise, no harm in doing it if you know what Xulfiqar proposed. Or else shershah is wide open take the sample fan compare the spring condition and freeplay ask for possibility of exchange with your unit.

Brand new replacement clutches are available here. u can find them in KHI as well. USed ones are also easy to find for LC's. If it is leaking, no point in filling silicone based oil again.
