    Default WTB Maintenance free Off-Roader

I m in search of a hardcore Jeep for off roading only, with zero maintenance for atleast 2 years. I m fedup of visiting workshops. I floated a thread for comparison b/w brand new LR defender or 10 year old LC but response was fifty fifty , so couldnt decide. Now i decided to keep my 96 Prado for daily use and northern areas trips and buy a cheap, simple hard core off roader for IJC and Frontier off Roaders events.
Pl suggest a vehicle with no or little maintenance or anyone wants to sell a very well kept and restored jeep.

    Regards

    Asad Sethi

Budget, Options, Requirment i.e capacity, and number of seats.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

as i need this for hardcore off roading only so it should not be more than 4 seats, no options required , a simple 4x4, budget can vary acc to vehicle and condition. But i need a jeep that is almost maintenance free, no trips to mechanics

again, nothing is clear. what do u mean by 4 seats? 98% of vehicles have 4 seating capacity. pls tell us should it be 3 door or 5 door. and budget is must otherwise all vehicles fall in this category. and some details will help, like villys is a hard core offroader but if u r cmng from pesh to attend the ijc events, than it will be difficult to travel all the distance comfortably.

There is no such thing as a 'hard core maintenance free offroader'! If something like that existed, we would all have one.
Mechanics are a 4x4s best friend, you cant separate them!

Asad bhai, i would recommend you to get a good condition 4X4 with no work required to be done at the moment. Later on you may upgrade it as per your requirement. But make your mind either you want to go for a monster type offroader, like that of Nadir (nn) or Hassan (hayzin) or u want something little like, villys or suzukis? I would personally recommend a 5 door vehicle as you have to travel a lot to reach isb. I think between 5 to 7 will be a fair price to get a good vehicle.

Very well said DeeDee and Hayzin .... I was told the same when few months back i bought my first 4x4.

After a thorough checkup and handsome amount worth work done on it, I came back home and exclaimed with joy ..... "Now my jeep wont see any mechanic for at least a year or so" ......... to which, my cousin, with a devilish smile on his face, replied ..... "Jee Jee ..... ye to puttar ab pata chalay ga na, haathi paal lia hai to ab gannay ka kharcha bhi bardash kero."

Though I am still optimistic about my ride but regular visits to mechanic is a talk of mouth here. I still hope u get a superb ride with awesome spex.

    Good luck

Jadoon was selling his softtop 70series/RKR recently. One of the best hardcore offroad machine , seemed very reliable as it has been very decently restored by him.

A new saloon car might be maintenance free for couple of years, but even a new SUV for using it for hardcore offroading will never be maintenance free and thats not a rocket science. Even if you just had one offroading trip you must know it. Moreover maintenance is maintenance and every moving vehicle needs it. You must require a tough, reliable and repair free vehicle rather.

I found 70series a tough and reliable machine as far as repairs or breakdowns are concerned as compare to willys/cjs/fjs/mutts/jeeps etc etc.

    My two cents.
