Its should be a good 5-6 up and another 3-4 down (depending on shackle length and leaf flex) Overall 8 to 10 for "pholly"
I have measured 8-9 inches at the back of my Uzi with short shackles.... beyond this finding shocks with 10 inches plus of effective travel starts becoming an issue.

Uzi at full droop, and tires still hitting the wheel well at full bump with flexi bump stops...

ok maybe i was exaggerating with the 4" but it certainly doesnt look like "pholly" will be having 8" of travel... maybe it will... post pictures!

Well lets see, I think 8 should be manageable especially with a slightly longer shackle. Would think that one could shoot for 10 if the shocks would allow it... the main limitation in this setup will be those hard bump stops, as its not a good feeling banging on them again and again in the rough! Otherwise, this should be good enough for the time being.... although my current recommendations are looking more and more like this

not a handsome looking fellow but looks like a potent machine... interesting observations on weight distribution as in the jumps the car lands rear wheels first in all the shots... looks significantly lighter upfront!

    Default Rear Wheel Travel...

Well this pic begged for some more investigation into the rear wheel travel question. While I was quite happy with the response of newly added Bilstein 5150s at the rear, I was aware that they might be an inch or so short and restrict downtravel. Though its difficult to tell from just the pic, but one would think that downtravel seems either severely limited, even though itspossible that rear tire is headed up than down... (Nice Pic BTW by Khalid Shoaib Jr.)

Pakistan 4x4 Rally Thread - Discussion - 1079903d1353302986 ijc rally run bbq m2 indus bridge nov 18 2012 img 1845

So yesterday, jacked up things again and took some measuring tape readings... The shorter silver 5150 does seem to restrict travel but only the last 0.25 inch or so. Overall there should be a good 9 inches in there theoretically though practically its possible that the rebound on the double bilsteins makes the suspension lazy and slow on the droop...(Pics below at full droop, car jacked up at frame)

Nevertheless, gotta thank Saidhi Bhai for the providing the 5150s and if I ever had any doubts on the viability of investing in better valves, they have been effectively eliminated out here, very improved behaviour with the double bilsteins! (pics at current ride height)

Wont be able to make it to Mithi this time, very sad for this as I waited 3 years for this rally. Last rally in Mithi was a disaster for me as I rolled there, was so desperate to see the finish line of this rally and have some real practice to push for the maximum in Cholistan.

And yes I know Allah Almighty is the best planner.

Seems to be moving up in the 1st picture... Have you made any adjustments to the bump stops to prevent the suspension from bottoming out since youre slightly low on travel? or are you still within range using the existing stops... btw another shop will have daystar 2" airbumps in stock by mid december if you know anyone whos going i can share the contact.... also, as per the Mebar guys ideally you need to upgrade your power steering pump when you put in the quickener.

Got my Icons ... hand carried the springs and rear shocks ... the front ones arrive in a few days.. gopro also landing in a few days... gettin warmed up!

Saidhi bhai! need to do some practice runs once the suspension is in place... koi achi jagga to batao!

Default On Cholistan vs Jhal Magsi Terrains!

    Pakistan 4x4 Rally Thread - Discussion - filephp?id12237

Though first pic is of the Indus sands, it was quite close to Cholistan terrain in general and the idea here was to compare front tire direction vs the lateral dust/sand throw! Conclusion is that in general, the drift element of the Jhal dust, though gets taken for granted after your first 5 mins, cannot really be explained or captured (even on video), it just has to be experienced!
