Post Engine swap from 1PZ to 1HZ

    Dear all,

I want a suggestion and help from all 4x4 experts, i want to replace 1PZ engine in my 70 series landcruiser three door with 1HZ. now the issue is that should it be possible to replace engine only with the current gear box installed or should i replace complete engine+gear box, and current differentials for 1PZ support 1HZ or not. ur technical assistant is very much helpful for me regarding this matter.

    Cheers
    Fahad

I think it should work quite well. The PZ is just a 5 cyl version of the HZ. It may possibly have slightly different diff ratios but otherwise its probably fine. There is a 70 series spec sheet on some thread which should list the diff ratios for PZ and HZ....

Sir, Suhaib Kiani saheb's knowledge can not be challenged,...... but
1 PZ is a normally aspirated engine, if I recall correctly. It is a relatively robust engine, with characteristics similar to but a lot better than the 3L series, I think around 100 horse power.
1 HZ on the other hand, is a very powerful, Turbo charged, high speed engine, around 165 horses. I think it will be reasonable to check on the specs, because if there is a lot of difference, then the pleasure of driving will be decreased.
1 suggestion, though. If the 1 PZ is OK, why not continue using it? 1 HZ is mainly for high speed cruising on highways. The leaf spring, short wheel base vehicles, typically the BJ 70, 73 series, on the other hand, are not meant for extremely high-speed driving, and for off-roading, I don't believe, 1 PZ will be lagging behind any other vehicle.
You have a beautiful vehicle, Fobak. I like it.

Default My appologies,.... Saaduk and Kiani Sb are right...

I misunderstood it for the engine that comes standard in Cruising.
    That one is probably 1HD-Turbo
    or something similar.
I just sold a vehicle, and the chassis is generally spoken off as HJ 81. I thought this engine to be the same as the one in Cruising.
    thanks for correction....
