    Default Desert Safari - Karachi

    I'm enjoying helluva of time here in Karachi and to my surprise I got bucket load of pix for different events and was enthralled by the enthusiasm and craze for Automobiles. The famous Creek Inn meet point for PakWheeler's became a Grand Event Meet for every kind of sports cars. From Modified Civics to Evolutions to Super Cars to 4x4s. I tried to cover each and everything but to my dumb mind, it was fast & furious going around.

    For the time being I'm gonna start with the 4x4 Event, which was really a surprise for me. I mostly spent time on capturing videos and @OmerArshad capturing the stills.

    So, lets begin the fun, here it goes.

    Charged..love the pics..really made my day and the night too! Just brilliant.

    Slowly but surely land rovers are getting popular here. I think most people dont realize their capability and do get turned off by their out dated shape. I think its the shape that makes it look great.

    Tomororw I will post here pictures of my 110. I am sure you will enjoy them.

    Take care

    Charged: It took me about 6 months to get it right! the doors open wider, the seats are very comfortable and the leg room is plenty. With 2 layers of carpeting and one layer of rubber matt, the noise level is significantly lower.

    Do look me up if you are ever in karachi and we will go for a ride..

    Take care

    Some Tips for desert driving.
    Always keep plenty of water in your vehicle.
    Do Journey managment( inform some one of your location and time of return.)
    keep a metal plate to use under the jack if you have a flat tyre.
    If possible keep a garmin.
    Have a tyre air pump
    if you get boged in sand , sling or winch should always be the last option as its dangerous and can cause accident.
    The trick is to reduce the tyre pressure to 10-12lbs and use 4x4 and 2nd gear . first try to reverse gently on the tracks you came in .

    Half of those Defenders are lying dead in garages, the body might be tough but the power comes from all those old crappy GM engines.

    I'm talking about the crappy V8's from Buicks, not the BMW diesels.

    Isthiaque bhai never will i try to compare your knowledge to mine when it comes to cars since you are WAY ahead of me but if you don't mind, i'd like to point one little thing out. Defenders came into being in around the late 90's. before that they were series land rovers or 90's and 110's. the actual "defender" name is new so technically very few defenders are rusting away in garages.

    Also the Land Rover V8 does indeed have it's origins in a Gm/buick V8 but alot of time has passed since then and those blocks haev even been used in TVR (though they are a little long in the tooth now).

    @all
    so we chould only compare the "defender 110" to an LC both on and off road. also if we are going to be comparing a japan built LC to a defender 110 TD5 or a tomb raider V8.

    @Storm

    Since mid eighties I've been seeing defender 90 & 110. They used to have 2.4 & 3.9 V8 engines (gasoline).

    As for your kind and friendly approach, here is my gift to you.
