    Default Pajero 1993 or a Landcuiser 88?

I am in for a 4x4 need it for gt road and a driving from Islamabad to hattar daily via taxila don't want a flashy looking or newish due to don't want to attract unwanted attention but something which would be tough and reliable due to seen to many accidents and loony tunes truck drivers are loads. budget is less then 7-8 lakhs thought a pajero 92-94 would be best love one in red or a landcruiser 87-89 as they are quite well other one was in mine a hilux 89-96 ones reck one can find tht in budget?

    @qwerty

92-93 intercooler pajero for 600-700k would be OFF the road mostly than ON it!
A decent roadworthy gen 1 would cost this much if reliability is paramount! Trips to Taxila on a battered low priced gen 2 would be mostly in taxis owing to enroute frequent breakdowns!

    Just my two cents.

When it comes to used / second-hand 4wd vehicles...NOTHING can come close to beating a Land Cruiser. Ever.

In our neck of the woods where parts, mechanics, maintenance, and other obscure overheads dictate the way we play, DOUBLE those odds. Always. Unless you're really being sensible, in which case TRIPLE those odds.

    Best of luck!

thnx guys for the help I personally prefer the land cruiser more then the pajero just I do know wont get any decent LC for tht budget. Unless a clean 86-89 3door comes my way or a pajero 5door need a 2nd hand due to fact tht no point killing the hell out of a brand new 4x4 as thats a tried and tested formula. Once u drive any car on tht route it will break down after a yr we have driven vigos, prado and surfs on tht route found them very reliable and tough to handle tht road which has loads of pot holes, huge un seen speed breakers, worst kind of heavy truck traffic. pajero is the choice only due to budget can one find one in tht budget as they never were tht expensive a few years back. Trip to workshop is comon no mater its a new or old 4x4 I had to visit 3rd day to the denter once for a brand new vigo being scraped while parked by a truck tariler, 2wice for a surf being hit from behind and side a rickshaw and van. pick up hit a prado at the lights. reason why I dont want newish ride but a tough ride even a landrover defender is under consideration as all it will be used for would be tht journey. Amount for dents and suspension damage our cars go through is that every year we need to sell em off.

First option LC70 and second option Hilux if it fits in your budget.

i never had a 92 hilux or a lc70 comparing engine wise, power, brakes overall which is best? is the LC 3door slightly unstable while harsh braking in high speeds and also suspension is hard on them? driven loads of hilux found them tail happy 2001 tiger thai models no sure of 92-95 models one.

my father owned landcruiser 82,87. hilux 91,94. again lc 91(HDJ 80), prado 87 (3 door 2L-t), we have none of these vehicles in our family anymore. two of them i miss a lot are lc 82(kept it for 12 years) and prado 3 door.. none of above mentioned vehicles ever gave us any troubles as they were in very good condition. In your budget you can find a nice old 85-87 lc but keep in mind the fuel consopmtion as diesel is touching RS.100/L. as far as 3 door prado is concerned, it depends on your luck that u find a good one in that money but its not impossible. i can not comment on pajero as me or my father has never owned it, so i have no experience abt it.

@crashD.. first of all hilux is not comfortable as lc,, as you have mentioned that you are gonna travel on daily basis then comfortable vehicle with reliability followed with fuel economy should be on top of your list, i think i am going off the topic here but unless you are not planning to go off road why not buy a diesel corolla? hilux and prado will give u maximum 10-11 km/L, for landcruiser maximum 10 km/L ( these averages depend heavily upon the condition of the vehicles AND MOST IMPORTANT HOW YOU DRIVE). i took my brother's corolla 2.od(1998) from rawalpindi to abbotabad and then back pindi and averaged 16.5 km/L. but in the end decision is yours,, 4x4 are no doubt expensive in terms of fuel but on the plus side they rarely breakdown, and THEY ARE GREAT FUN TO DRIVE. if u can afford it go for lc its more powerful, comfortable and stable at high speeds than 3 prado and hilux.. may be some senior member can correct me if i am wrong..

Well might as well do it lol.

It fit the requirements pretty well.

    Low profile
    No maintainance cost
    Excellent fuel average
Takes a beating still goes on.

Personally openin if one has driven/kept vigo auto 3.0 d4d, prado 1kz etc

89 lc and 2.8 pajero will feel like ****.

Thats only your side of the story......only if you had driven the 3.2 DiD pajero or the triton.....vigo and prado are then bull****!

thnx guys for the info I have driven the mistubishi Pickup thts not bad but pefer the vigo over it more even due to infamous injector problem. I even own a vigo currently, the corolla 2.0d is not worth it due to fact its 80km drive from Islamabad and back from hattar to my factory daily and the road is full of pot holes huge unexpected speed breakers heavy truck traffic due to 2 cement factories dewan and bestway it doesnt last long on tht route. Driving a new car isnt worth it there pajero or lc would do as it can also be loaded with any broken machinery part tht might need fixing in Rawalpindi thus a tough 4x4 is required one u dont get annoyed if it get scratched or dented even, also driving a new 4x4 would attract unwanted attention as it aint tht safe either specially in evenings. Which is why I am looking for a basic 4x4 in tht budget which is apparently turning out to be a hassle though I am sure will find one not sure what. @
@mitsu-man how much are the mistubishi pickup L200 are for these days just gave me an idea to look them up also?
