Default Frontier 4x4 Club Mud Rally at Naguman, 19 Feb, 2012

    Dear Members and Friends

By the grace of ALL MIIGHTY ALLAH all the members have made it safe and sound back to there homes after a surprising event , Surprising because we went for mud rally but three of our 4x4x's got stuck into quicksand (it was a matter of minutes that 4x4's went straight down to there foot boards without any move ,but thanks to all our team members and HATS OFF to Aark30 (khizer hayat) after getting the mayday call he reached the scene at 11 hour as he came all the way from his village tirah(orakzai agency) to help his buddies .BK RKR, Red fj40 nasir bhai and malik asghar nissan safari. An excavator was called in to pull them out but after reaching the location he also got stuck and barely escaped and left , then another one was called in who was very daring he also got stuck during the rescue process but hats off to the nerves of that driver that he pulled him self and every buddy out .For human max time in one place was not more than 2 to 3 min after that one used to get stuck till there knees.

BK Rkc was the only 4x4 who enjoyed the river bank and quick sands like anything With his new shoes(Savero super swampers) in some places even super swampers burnt the clutch to pull it self out of the scene.
Ark30 rkr was a light provider had a single ride but baerly pulled its self but than decided to stay away and provided light (great flood light he had on roof top ).
Bk mutt was jumping all over small ditches .Aark30 was warmly welcomed by Bk by making him sit in one of the hardest jumps in his MUTT.
Asad wrangler 4x4 stop working and got stuck in mid of the event and was pulled out by Aark30.
Imran savul new machine was put to the test so far so good.*

All the members please upload pic and videos

This event was more quicksand event than a mud bashing so mud bashing will planed again, this event is dedicated to all the survivors of quicksand of river Naguman.
    BK yousafzai and Asad Sethi

    Terrific looking rig, Masha Allah!

What size tyres are those? And they appear to be Super Swamper Boggers...is that right? Whilst driving, did the vehicle appear sluggish, or unresponsive due to the large wheels, at all? I'm also interested in knowing as to whether you needed to do a jugaar with the guchchey to gain optimum performance. (I only ask, because I have a similar ongoing project which has some ridiculously large tyres, too)

Now what those wheels REALLY need are beadlocks, so you can reduce the tyre pressure to 5psi, and increase the "footprint" of the huge wheel, even more!

Shabash! Wonderful ride as it is, even!

well the difference between walking through mud and quicksand. Water will never come out like this in your foot step if you walk in mud BUT in quicksand (or potentially dangerous ) when you walk on it you will fell soft and muddy but if you walk on it and than watch YOUR STEPS AFTER 30 TO 40 seconds water will fill in so BIRATHER THINK THAT YOU ARE IN WRONG PLACE ...

WELL the only thing which was concerning was his clutch bec when we tried to pull our buddies out clutch smoked ....but...... i dont blame the clutch because with the passage of time we realize that its a job of excavator two tractors and one excavator failed so how could you expect this monster to pull them out where his dadies and grand dadies failed ..beside that it was perfect and engine response and clutch response over all response was gr8...
for your information i belong from a very hard area , traible area you will be amazed what people do with toyota hilux in its original conditions almost every where in pakistan they put 40mun(2000kg) and they climb like any thing on hills and rough roads .so if it can sustain that so it can sustain the force of tires without load ...THATS what i think and its proven to me

this is not my rig but i have some details!
    tire size is 35x16!
yes you are right they are boggers.
the vehicle response was really good as the original setup of engine(2F) n original Diffs did match with the tires and we were pretty amazed how she played with the quick sand it was a treat to watch.
the only issue with the installation of these huge tire was with the turning radius which resulted in scratching of inner body.n for height adjustment
    shackles changed(longer ones installed)
uplifting of body from chassis is required.(rubber bushing of 2 inches)and new setup for exhaust pipe(silencer box)...

Good idea, about the body lift. I think spacers could also help you out to reduce body rubbing, as well.

I'm going to explain the gear ratio thing in slightly more detail, since I myself learned it the hard way, AFTER the enthusiasm of buying giant tyres (I'm using 15/42/15 Super Swampers) died down for me!

The standard FJ40 comes with either a 10:37 guchcha or a 10:41 guchcha. Your mechanic will probably be able to tell you which one you have genuine fitted in your FJ. This means that your Differential Gear Ratio is 3.7 or 4.1 (after you divide the larger number by the smaller number). Keep this figure in mind, please.

I've posted a Diff Calculator as a picture here. On the extreme left hand column, your wheel size is given. The top most row gives your Diff Gear Ratio.

Now, the colours. Yellow represents economy. Green gives you the best possible combination of power and economy. The red zone represents over powering, which will literally DRINK fuel AND cause excessive wear and tear to the engine. So you want your gear ratio and wheel combo to fall within the green zone, ideally.

If you co-relate your wheel size (35) with your possible Gear Diff Rating (3.7 or 4.1) you'll see that the 3.7 figure is QUITE underpowered, while the 4.1 ratio is still short of the green zone.

To do complete justice to the beautiful 2F engine of the FJ, and fully utilise the Boggers, you need a gear ratio that falls within that green zone. If the owner of the rig is planning on using these wheels permanently, it's advisable to get the suitable ring-pinion combination, or guchcha right. You'll definitely feel the difference.

    Happy mudding!Frontier 4x4 Club Mud Rally at Naguman 19 Feb 2012 -373827
