Thumbs down Pajero Gen 1 +

    in Pajero Series, Only Pajero Gen 1 is caliber'd & honored to be the BEST/Complete 100% On-Road + Off-Road Stability & Reliability !!

Above then Gen 1 Pajero's are all FAIL !
Gen2 & plus, Due to their more Engine power & Less Body weight neglecting the Physics of Momentum & Velocity, they are all fail ! We should not neglect the LAW of PHYSICS to save FUEL.

I am hoping I beat Mitsu_Man to this.

Brother, it is sad that you having owned various Pajeros feel this way. The video you have posted is testament to the fact that the driver was a total idiot. You do not attempt an incline at an angle, and when you do, you do not floor the gas when you're about to roll over. The driver deserved this.

I currently have a Gen 1, and have kept a Gen 2.5 before as well. Both are equal off roaders, and the Gen 2 is better on the road. Any offroad vehicle is only as good as its driver. But you put in a good driver in a Pajero and that becomes a match made in heaven

    @Rao

Well said amigo....the video guy is a bum even by the lowest of standards!

    @fuma
On a serious note...... and briefly, gen 1, I've found more composed and rattle free over the years whereas....., gen 2, has more rattles owing to the fact that it was born with more plastics on but outshines the gen 1 in BOTH on and off-road manners ......and the handling part was notched up a couple of places in the gen 3/4 owing to the frameless structure and the IRS!
Your personal liking for your Gen 1 I respect, but, it might only be attributable to the fact that you need to YET get a chance to feel the difference in the later models (especially the gens 3 and 4).....if that's the case all is forgiven......
EVOlution, straightaway, is one word that comes to mind!

@GG, I agree to whatever you have said, except one thing (it might be different for Pajeros or may be we have do in mogs only or totaly dependent on the situation), when you are about to rollover then push the gas gas gas, dont brake!

    Arrow NEW Toyota's also FLIP!

I've seen NEW TOYOTA'S also FLIPPIN'...

2 weeks back, my friend's PRADO'98 LWB A/T got FLIPPED in DELTONS( Khadda Market ) @ 140 Degree Turn over 100Kmph, destroying the whole right side of the body, engine blown up(whole oil leaked), + cracking the rear chasis part ...
but ALLAH saved him and he was OK. His SUV is under mechanical+body+chassis re-construction to get the vehicle under original condition making a total expense sum of Rs. 5-6 Laks.

Thats why i take this FLIPPING part very seriously, i say if it was Nissan Safari OR LC 89 LWB OR Pajero Gen 1 OR LR Defender, they all wud never FLIP !!!
Dont forget Physics of Momentum, i.e M=FxD ( Force x Displacement ) where Weight is constant.

    Hmmm. A 140 degree turn, at 100 km/h...

You mean to say he was actually HOPING that it would NOT flip over, crack the chassis, blow up the engine, and destroy the entire right side?

Brother...he was driving a Land Cruiser, not a Formula 1 car. Thank heavens he's safe...otherwise, I don't think he's very wise. Pardon my brutal honesty.

There's a saying when it comes to handling firearms..."a gun is AS safe as the nut who's holding it". I guess the same applies to vehicles, as well.

    @ MITSU MAN:

Look at the expert EYE over the AXLE + WEIGHT MATHS:

1980 Range Rover Classic articulation vs Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogan) - YouTube

its seems like even the OLD 80's Ranger Rover Classics ARE FAAAR Much better than Gen 2+ Pajeros

Now, do you see the flaws in GEN 2 of FLIPPIN' OVER ??? OR NOT YET???

Not to start a flame war, but please go through the following link on Wikipedia, which gives some details about an "elk test":-

Moose test - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You'll notice that the angles in the diagram are certainly LESS than 140 degrees, and the speed mentioned is 70-80 km/hr, in the best cases.

If you've been executing such turns at such speeds, over "years and years" successfully...I can only say "aap ke saath aap ke waalidein ki duaein hain". Please...do NOT make such sweeping statements about this-or-the-other vehicle being capable of executing far-fetched manoeuvres, which can have dangerous and/or fatal consequences, for impressionable minds.

Anyways, this is my last post on this thread. Best of luck.

    Its all on the driver.

I have done some pretty crazy things on my sj410 one time even lifted a tire.
Not saying i am i good driver or something just got lucky. On the other hand my driver lost it and destroyed the whole left side while saving it.

Secondly. Its all about the speed not the big engine.

Its not that if you have a small or less power full engine you can take a turn of 140 degree at 100.

Its all on the driver and condition of the tires and suspension.

Every vehicle has its own handling charactor.
    RIP
