I had posted an equiry on australia well known forum on explorz on link HJ60 power inverter issues @ ExplorOz Forum and they suggest to opt for Battery Isolators & Relays and another one very good is www.4wdsystems.com.au

For heavy duty applications (winches etc) you need a 450amp Isolator with heavier cabling. But these are very expensive. Cost of kit is $277 (for 100amp kit), $340 (for 180amp kit) and $449 (for 450amp unit) and these are Australian dollars.

    Lets research this out locally

    Easy solution
Put another identical rating battery in parallel in Engine bay.
U will have 12 V with double rating amps.
The only issue will be alternator which on most SUV's is strong enough to charge both batteries when engine is running.

How about if we can make a manual hand system with a meter on board on dashboard which enables to connect the 2nd battery to alternator once the primary battery is fully charged and then disconnect by a hand switch system once 2nd battery gets fully charged

yes it is 12v and higher current - but i believe that will damage your starting system and injectors like in 1kd

alternate battery system, charges 2nd battery once 1st is fully charged, its uses 2nd battery when you turn the main system knob, 2nd battery is always reserved for bad situation / emergency / winch / ups / camping - so that your primary battery is always safe.

Alternator has no idea it is charging 1st battery or 2nd.
What will happen that the charging current will be divided into 2 batteries equally & if somehow u have a strong battery with a weak one in parallel then it will not charge the weak one because the regulator will limit the charging current.
So when u want to have 2 batteries in system in parallel then get 2 new identical rating batteries & connect thats it
Mind u it has nothing to do with starting system & injectors.
The system will draw whatever current is reqd & if somehow the battery is weak it will draw more current on the expense of volatge
Which we say that Battery is weak

Salam, bhai as you have mentioned, it depends on the system rather than charging two batteries at same time, the arb or a specific circuit for this purpose will first charge primary battery to 13v then stop charging it, and start charging secondary battery. You have a visible led screen to see how much which battery is charged. Furthermore you will have option to only use secondary battery only, while saving primary. Kindly have a look at arb / tjm dual battery systems. You would get a better idea about it. I still believe that two batteries in parallel wouldn't solve the purpose.

lol... yes we do have solutions to combat the power desire in wilderness BUT related mostly to Unimog and also 24v... hence we already running with 2 batteries again 24v and not related to query running on this thread... i have seen Nissan and LCs with dual batteries and i guess copying the solution from there wud be the easiest and cheapest way...

Q#1. Which 4x4 you are having to convert to dual battery system?
Q#2. What is the ampere rating of your current/OEM generator installed?
Q#3. Have you talked or checked with your electrician?
