SK, was the diff opened and welded? That would mean diff locked permanently? Explain yourself!

Yup! I believe that is a welded diff for the rear axle
Its not the best of options but a bunch of people run it, on street and trails from what I understand!

Lol. No need for explanations. We know you want to do it
What does this mean for street driving and fast rally mode stuff? How would it effect both? Can't be good for snow for sure, I remember that rear diffs locked were just not controllable in the snow.

What about just getting a Detroit Locker, or a 4wd Systems Lokka? They will lock automatically when a rear wheel loses traction but not effect daily driving, as long as you don't gun it on a turn (hint: probably won't work for us Toyota JZs and UZi engine types! )

I believe the Detroit locker and similar products are essentially limited slip diffs. They work well in some situations though are not normally very rugged, and are not comparable to a locked rear when it comes to hardcore offroading.

Though I have not looked into it very much, I understand that welded diffs are used for specialised applications (offroading and drift cars come to mind) but also get by on the trail and street though I can't imagine how and I'm sure its gonna be pretty bad on a lot of counts! ! !

Default The Unbreakable Type of Weld....

Rear welds seem like a piece of cake if you go through forums, people daily drive them and complaints are fast wearing tires and screeching every turn....

The real men weld front and back Supposedly you can still turn the thing and drive on the street by unlocking front hubs....

Yeah, read that too. So you're a bigger man than me, lets get you to try it very quickly!

I have heard the Detroit Locker type things actually work pretty well. There was a guy in Lahore I know who tried something like that on a RKR, let me see if I can ask him first hand.
